I raise a brow, and he stops, nodding once and grabbing his drink.

“I’m looking forward to this weekend with you. I am proud of you for this. I’m dealing with it the best way I can, and it only bothers me when you bring it up,” I explain.

“I’m sorry. I won’t anymore.”

“But I have a feeling you will.”

He smirks around his glass. “You’re probably right.”

I groan, my head falling back.

“Dominic Blake!” The voice is high-pitched. Almost shrilly.

“Miss Dix,” Dominic answers, getting up from his seat. He gives her a small hug, kissing both of her cheeks.

“I was so glad when I heard we’d be on the same flight.” She gasps, looking around him. “Who is this handsome man?”

I force a smile. I knew this is how it would be. I knew I’d be face-to-face with all these people talking to me, wanting to meet me and know things about me. They’d comment about me being his boyfriend—good and bad. I agreed to come with him anyway because that’s what boyfriends do. Also, I want to be here for him. I am proud of him and happy for him—and I want to be okay in this setting.

“Mikah Reed.” I get up, going in for a hug.

Maybe it’ll get easier the more I do it. Or maybe I’ll just go numb to it and no longer care.

Chapter Thirty

Dominic

Vegas is insane.

“I haven’t been here since my early twenties,” I say, gripping Mikah’s hand.

“Because you’re boring nowadays,” Gerard comments.

There was a large limo in the pick-up area at the airport waiting to take us to the hotel. Sixteen of us were on the private plane, and all of us are in this limo, each with a glass of champagne in their hand.

Well, except Mikah, who drank his already. It’s going to be a long weekend for him for so many reasons. So many people to talk to and things to do. He’s not a social person the way I am. It drains him more than it energizes him.

“Keep talking shit, Ger. He’s going to knock you out,” Victor says.

“Oh please,” Gerard mutters with an eye roll.

“The cocky pretty boy thing works in the videos, but not in real life,” Diana says smartly, causing Gerard’s girl, Stella, to scoff.

I sigh, running a hand down my face. The drama is real in this limo. At least on this end. The other seems to be getting along just fine.

“Are we almost there?” I swear there’s about to be a fight in this limo if we don’t get everyone out. I am in no mood to deal with Gerard being a prick.

“Yeah, as soon as we get through this last bit of traffic,” Victor answers. “We’ll be right on time.”

“Which still gives us plenty of time to drink.” Diana raises her glass, then takes a big gulp.

“You’ve always been good at swallowing,” Gerard says under his breath, causing his girlfriend to frown.

“Don’t you know it?” Diana responds with an exaggerated wink.

I take a swig of my drink and offer my glass to Mikah. He takes it and empties it, handing the glass back to me. Diana hides her laugh behind her hand.

“You two ever think of tag-teaming a woman?” she asks suddenly, causing Mikah to choke on… well, nothing, I guess.
