Int. Brewed Awakening Café - Morning
Annie enters and stands in line to wait with three other customers.
James sees her immediately and smiles. His demeanour with his guests has improved, he even says “Good Morning” to them.
Annie steps up when it’s her turn.
ANNIE
Good morning! Two lattes please, sir.
JAMES
Why yes, miss, coming right up.
Annie glances at the display case, noting some new treats.
ANNIE
Our Christmas cookies! You’re selling them!
JAMES
They’re a huge hit. I may have to make more
for us to take to the party on Saturday.
ANNIE
Let me know if you need any help with that.
JAMES
I will. Here are your drinks—
Annie removes her wallet from her purse.
James raises his hand to stop her, then gestures to the display case of cookies.
JAMES (CONT’D)
You’ve already paid me in hours
of service.
ANNIE
Thank you, that is very kind. Can
I have a couple of cookies, too?
James gives her the cookies in a paper bag.
Annie sneaks a $20 bill into the tip jar.
James eyes Annie with teasing reproach.
