Chapter Thirteen

"Ididn't meanto be so rough the other day in the janitor's closet," I said, watching her, trying to gauge what she was thinking but she was difficult to read. The nervous knot in my stomach tightened.

"I liked it," she said, taking me by surprise.

Who knew the innocent virgin I had first met would like hard up against the wall in a janitor's closet. I smiled. Maybe there was a naughty vixen inside her that was waiting to be set free. I would enjoy every moment of freeing her inhibitions.

"I'll remember that." My gaze went to her lips momentarily.

In the air, our chemistry sizzled between us, charged by the way she was looking at me like she couldn't wait for me to do it again. She swallowed. She was just as turned on as I was.

"Why did you just leave without saying a word?" she asked softly.

I studied her while I tried to find the right words to explain my actions.

"I'm very territorial. I don't like to see the girl I'm fucking being hit on by another guy." I didn't trust Caleb at all. He did nothing to hide the interest in his eyes every time he looked at her.

She looked at me thoughtfully. I would have paid good money to know what was going on in her pretty little head.

"Caleb wasn't hitting on me. He is just a friend." She was still so naive.

"Are you sure he knows that?" I said, looking skeptical. I was a guy. I knew how guys operated and there was no doubt in my mind Caleb wanted her.

"Yes." She gave a slight nod.

Now that we had discussed the first incident of seeing her with another guy, it was time to approach the subject of the blond stranger she seemed to know too well for my liking. "Who was the other guy you were with?"

"He's my brother."

Well, I hadn't expected that. A brother. It hadn't even crossed my mind when I had watched them. But looking back now with that information I began to see the similarities. It also explained the affection and the ease at which they had interacted.

"When we put rules in place for this arrangement, we both agreed that we would be exclusive," she reminded me.

"I know, it's just like I said before...I'm territorial," I said, shrugging my shoulders. I didn't want to explain why I had trust issues. It would entail talking about my childhood and that wasn't something I opened up about. I didn't want her sympathy.

"When I agreed to being exclusive, I meant it." The tone of her voice left me with no doubt she was being sincere.

Not wanting to continue talking about it, I gave a brief nod.

"Have you eaten yet?"

She shook her head.

"Do you want to go and get something to eat?" This was a first and even took me by surprise. Clearly she hadn't been expecting it either, from the expression on her face.

"It's just food, not a date," ensuring she knew the difference. Our arrangement had an expiry date and she had to remember that. I didn't want her reading more into my actions.

"Sure. I just need to get some other clothes on."

I let my gaze sweep her from head to toe.

"You look fine," I argued. She would look beautiful in anything she wore. Even in her comfy clothes that had seen better days my hormones were raging.

"I need five minutes," she said, unconvinced.

"Meet me downstairs when you're ready." If I stayed we wouldn't be going anywhere. Besides, it gave me time to think over our conversation.

I was leaning against my car when she appeared, dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt with sandals. There was only the slight smear of lip gloss on her lips. It made me want to kiss her but I refrained.
