BALTIMORE SUNREADERS RESPOND

DECEMBER 15, 2016

It’s a sad day to see that Baltimore murders are on track for another record-breaking year (“Murder Ink 12/14/16: 3 murders this week; 299 murders this year”). Despite the news, Mothers Against Violence continues to organize for peace this year in Baltimore and nationwide. We sent support to the victims of mass shootings in Orlando and around the country, and helped the parents, children, and families of victims in our own city.

Through our research, we know that over half of Americans have been affected by gun violence and in Baltimore the percentage is much higher. In Baltimore City, guns kill more children than any other cause of death.

Residents of Baltimore, it’s time to take a stand. We need to heal from this trauma, but you can’t heal a scab you continue to scratch. Call your congresspeople today and tell them to support the Commonsense Gun Guidelines bill that will require trigger locks on every gun and background checks for every gun purchase.

Violence has affected all of our lives, but we can work to change that for the future. Find out more at MAVBaltimore.com.

Sincerely,

Mikayla Adamson
