“You saw me on my knees for him? Like you saw my face?”
“It was kind of hard to see your face while he was shoving his dick down your throat,” she snaps.
“So you didn’t see my face. Didn’t see me do anything.”
“I didn’t need to! I know what I saw.”
“Really? Because it sounds like you’re a bit confused. I mean, first you say you saw me on my knees for him, then you say you didn’t actually see that it was me because his dick was in my mouth, but you know it was me even though you didn’t see me.” I tilt my head to the side and feign confusion. “It doesn’t sound like you know anything.”
“I know you’re not special,” she snaps. “That you’re just a shiny new toy for him, and he’ll drop you the second someone else catches his eye.”
“You think so?”
She lets out a harsh laugh. “I know so. Killian likes things that are different. He likes danger, and he likes excitement. That’s all you are to him. You’re different and exciting, and you satisfy his danger kink. But that’s all you’ll ever be to him.” She takes a half step closer to me. “You’re just the piece of ass he decided to experiment with before he casts you aside like everyone else he gets tired of.”
“Is that so?”
She takes another half step closer. Now we’re only about a foot apart, and the overwhelming scent of her perfume wraps around me like a noose.
“You’ve seen it,” she says, an arrogant smile twisting her features. “How he doesn’t look at you when he’s fucking you. How it seems like his head is always somewhere else and he’s just going through the motions so he can get off.” She smirks like she just dropped some earth-shattering truth bombs on me. “He’s already getting bored of you; you just don’t know it yet.”
Leaning closer to her, I drop my voice to make sure no one else can hear what I say. I have no idea how many of our floormates are in their rooms right now, but I don’t want to risk any of them hearing this part of our conversation.
“I haven’t noticed any of that. In fact, it’s the exact opposite when we’re together.”
Her eyes bug out and her jaw drops.
“That might be how he was with you, but that’s not the guy I’m sleeping with. That guy is passionate and virile and doesn’t stop until we’re both exhausted and barely conscious. And the eye contact is…it’s like he’s looking into my soul and not just looking at me.”
She opens and closes her mouth a few times, but no sound comes out.
“It’s too bad you didn’t get to see that side of him,” I continue as she keeps making fish faces at me. “But by your own admission, you’re obviously such a bad lay that you couldn’t even inspire him to pretend to enjoy it. That says way more about you than it does about him.”
Her face is bright red under her layers of makeup, and I know I’m about ten seconds away from having a full-blown tantrum on my hands.
“Now how about you go find the next guy you’re going to disappoint and leave us the fuck alone.”
She splutters something, but it just comes out as gibberish.
“I’ll tell Killian you stopped by. Enjoy your holiday.”
She’s still spluttering when I slip back into the room and close the door with a satisfyingslam.
At least all three men are laughing, so that tells me I didn’t fuck up and make everything worse.
Go me.
They’re still laughing when I drop back down on the settee next to Killian and hand Jace the phone.
“You were brilliant,” Jax tells me. “Ten out of ten. No notes.”
“I’m reserving my score until I hear that last part,” Jace says, his eyes on the phone. “I need to know what you said to her because that’s the first time I’ve seen her shut up for more than two seconds.”
Killian drapes his arm over my shoulders and tucks me up against his side, a wide grin on his handsome face. “How did that feel?”
“Not as good as ruining her entire life would, but pretty darn good.”
Killian laughs and presses a kiss against my temple. The move is casual and almost seems like an afterthought, and it rocks something deep inside me.
