Kai wiped at his eyes. “I love this.”
Adam clapped a hand on Samuel’s shoulder. “Sammy, you’re officially my favorite person.”
Samuel rolled his eyes, but there was warmth there… in his gaze, in his expression, in the way he looked at me.
And just like that, the storm outside didn’t seem quite so loud.
CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE
Sadie
The storm outsidehad dulled to a steady rhythm, rain pattering softly against the windows, distant thunder rumbling like the last growl of a beast retreating into the night.
But inside The Foundry, the heat was rising.
Not from the fire still flickering in the hearth. Not from the warmth of Kai’s hoodie wrapped around me, the lingering scent of him threading through the fabric. No, this was brand new.
And I wasn’t the only one who felt it.
Adam had his arm still draped casually across the back of the couch, his fingers close enough that if I shifted even a little, I’d feel them brush against my skin.
Kai sat on the floor between my knees, his hand resting on the couch just beside my thigh.
And Samuel leaned against the arm of the couch, his sharp gaze tracking every movement, every flicker of breath, like he was studying the world around him.
Like he was studying me.
No one spoke for a moment, the crackling of the fire the only sound between us.
But the silence wasn’t empty. It was charged.
I licked my lips, feeling three pairs of eyes on me, and the smallest movement sent a ripple through them all. Adam’s fingers twitched against the couch. Kai’s hand flexed. Samuel’s jaw went tight.
A slow, almost smug smile tugged at Adam’s lips. “You feel that, don’t you, sugar?”
My breath hitched. “Feel what?”
Kai huffed out a low, knowing laugh. “You know exactly what.”
I did.
I felt it in the way Adam’s fingers skimmed the back of my neck, the way Kai’s gaze dropped, slow and heated, to my mouth. The way Samuel exhaled, the sound rough, like he was barely keeping himself in check.
Adam shifted closer, his body radiating warmth. His grin turned wicked. “I was gonna be a gentleman, let you call the shots, but you’re looking at us like you’re about to devour us whole.”
Heat licked up my spine. “Maybe I am.”
Samuel made a low sound in the back of his throat, dark, approving.
Kai’s fingers traced the hem of the hoodie I wore, his touch just barely there, but enough to make me shiver.
“You’re playing with fire, darlin’,” Samuel warned, but there was no real warning in his eyes.
Only heat. Only hunger.
Adam chuckled, dipping his head until his lips were just barely brushing my ear. “Then let’s burn.”
A shudder rolled through me. I didn’t know who moved first.
