A hint of movement to her right caught her eye. She turned her head to see the bland expression of a man who looked vaguely familiar. Andi remembered those eyes staring at her from the rear-view mirror last night.
Laith’s bodyguard-driver!
Andi sighed, accepting that Laith’s guards would all know about last night’s liaison within the hour. Assuming that they didn’t know already. She’d gone up in the private elevator with him last night, after all. And she hadn’t left!
Thankfully, it was Friday morning and, even better, they’d finished the review of the Singapore office. That meant that they were returning home to Philadelphia tonight.
“Good morning,” she whispered to the man, ignoring the fact that she was barefoot and tousled. Thankfully, the darkness hid her embarrassment as she made her way to the private elevator.
Five minutes later, Andi stepped into her quiet room and closed the door. Dropping her shoes on the floor, Andi headed straight for the bathroom. With the water running as hot as it would go, Andi stepped under the spray, wishing that she could wash away the memories of last night as easily as she could wash away Laith’s scent.
“Okay, last night was just a mistake,” she whispered quietly, not sure how thick the walls between the hotel rooms were. Andi wasn’t sure what time it was, and she didn’t want to wake anyone up.
Stepping out of the shower, she sighed with relief when she noticed the sun coming up over the horizon. It took her a moment to calculate what time it would be in Philadelphia by the time they landed tonight. Or tomorrow morning?
Andi desperately needed to talk with Carys. Taking a moment, Andi stopped her packing and sat down on the edge of her bed, staring down at the shoes in her hand. “Carys,” she whispered, as if she could summon her friend. “What have I done?”
There was no response, of course. Andi sat there, letting the tears fall and wondering what Carys would do in this situation. Carys was stronger, more outgoing. Andi wasn’t shy, but she was reserved, more of a bookworm. Carys was creative and dramatic, outgoing. Andi was logical and analytical, more introverted.
The two friends balanced each other.
Andi’s best friend would understand her current predicament. And Carys wouldn’t judge. She’d probably make some quirky comment about mind-blowing sex, then laugh it off and order another round of drinks.
The two of them had gone through so much together over the years. Although, sleeping with Laith last night seemed to be bigger than all of their previous peccadillos put together. The worst of their debacles was when Carys had tried to sew their Halloween costumes for a college party one year. The results had been hilarious and, in the end, they’d worn the asymmetrical outfits with one sleeve longer than the other, one pant leg longer, collars that were sewn onto a shoulder pad, and exposed seams. They’d announced to everyone that they were dressed as haute couture fashion models. Andi and Carys had been the hit of the party that year.
Unfortunately, Andi had flirted with the man that Carys was interested in that night. It had sparked their first fight as friends. They’d ignored each other at breakfast the following morning…until they’d both seen the guy in question with his arm slung over another woman. After that fight, they’d come up with a rule of sisterhood; never flirt with the other’s guy.
She thought about Laith and how she’d left him this morning. And the previous morning. And after that…time in his office. Could Andi really tell Carys about these frantic, heated moments in Laith’s arms?
Maybe this was something that Andi should keep to herself. Maybe she should just go home and…and…? What could she do? Every time she’d had a problem in her life, she’d gone toCarys and they’d talked the issue out together. Usually, a bottle of wine or beer was involved. And usually cake or cookies. Or pizza.
She dabbed extra makeup on over the dark circles under her eyes, although, why she had circles was a mystery. She vaguely remembered falling asleep almost immediately after…doing that. With Laith.
Andi shivered at the memories. She’d had no idea sex could be like that! Sure, it had been fine before Laith. But not…like that!
“Get a grip!” she whispered again. With a burst of energy, Andi moved around her hotel room, stuffing her belongings into the rolling suitcase she’d bought specifically for this trip.
When everything was packed, Andi took a final look around the room, then sniffed and turned away, lugging her heavy suitcase down the hallway. She’d have some coffee, then head to the lobby to meet up with her teammates. They’d all received a text message from Jonas last night outlining the details of their flight home.
Sitting down at the hotel coffee shop, she stared down into the depths of her coffee, contemplating what she would say when she met up with Laith again. What would he say? Would he acknowledge that they’d had sex?
No, he would probably act normally. Laith was more worldly about these things. Hell, he’d probably had plenty of sexual flings over the years. This might be her first, but Andi was well aware of how these things worked. She glanced at the time, wondering how soon she could call Carys and ask for advice. Or not ask for advice. Andi still wasn’t sure what she should do.
“Where the hell did you go last night?” a deep voice demanded from behind her.
A moment later, Laith dropped into the chair in front of her. She forgot to breathe as she stared at him, and for the life of her, Andi couldn’t control the nearly instant throbbing of her body as she remembered exactly how it had felt to feel this man thrusting inside of her, to know the absolute bliss of climaxing in his arms, the beauty of his demanding kisses, and the way his hand had cupped her breast in his sleep afterward.
“If you’d stayed, I could have given you several more reasons for that lovely blush.”
His voice still sounded angry, but less so than before. She watched as he rubbed a hand over his face. He was freshly shaved, but Andi remembered the way the scruff on his jaw had rubbed against her neck.
“Stop it, Andi,” he growled. “Or even better, come with me and we’ll do it all over again.”
“Laith,” she started, praying that her cheeks would cool down. “We should…”
“Sir,” Jonas interrupted, stepping up to the table. “Your pilot called. Your plane is standing by.” He glanced at Andi with a badly suppressed sneer. “The others are booked on a commercial flight back to Philly.”
Andi’s face went from red to white. Laith wasn’t coming with them? For some reason, that seemed even worse! Yeah, shehadn’t been looking forward to an awkward flight home with Laith, but…she didn’t want to be without him!
