Janessa and I spend the rest of the day together with the only interruptions from nurses and the doctor.Hearing the injuries I have really opens my eyes to what was done to me and how lucky I am to only need some therapy once I’m discharged from the hospital.Those fuckers are going to pay for the damage they’ve done to me and all the pain they caused my girl while I was being held by them.Not to mention the fact they thought they were going to take her away from me and get away with doing unspeakable things to her before killing her off.Fuck those pussies!

Chapter Twenty-Four

Janessa

THE LAST MONTH hasbeen filled with nothing but helping Knuckles get through rehab and ready to move back home where he belongs.He’s been an absolute asshole to everyone around him because he can’t ride, hold our son as good as before, and he hasn’t been outside or to the gym in way longer than ever before in his life.Knuckles has been going insane and he doesn’t know how to handle the situation he’s found himself in.One day it literally took Tease, Homicide, and Omen to hold him down because he was determined to walk out of the rehab center before he’d been discharged from the program.Hell, he literally just got his casts removed.One on one of his wrists and one on his leg.The man couldn’t even use crutches because of his wrists and the casts.That was the worst day, thankfully, and he’s been better since then.Even if he’s constantly in a horrendous mood.We’re all hoping once he gets back home he’ll be better.

Today is the day he gets to come home and it’s done wonders for his entire mood.Knuckles has been happy and laughing with everyone around him.He’s eating more and ready to be able to workout with the guys again.His routine will be modified in the beginning while he continues to heal, but he’ll be able to hit the gym with the guys.That’s what he’s most looking forward to since he’s already held Kaden in his arms again.Knuckles won’t let our son go now that he can actually hold him and know he won’t endanger Kaden.Tease was there that day and to see the excitement in their eyes was something I’ll never be able to forget no matter what happens in my life.The two of them support one another more than anyone else I’ve ever met in my life.Their relationship goes beyond cousins or best friends—they’re true brothers even if it isn’t by who their parents are.

“Are you ready to bring your man home?”Aaron asks me as Marie pulls into the rehab center and parks by the door.

My brothers have been home for weeks now.They left shortly after Knuckles woke up in the hospital because they couldn’t take any more time off from work at the moment.Aaron also has a huge case he’s been working on and is about to go to trial.I’ve been spending most of my time at the rehab center anyway because it’s the only time Knuckles has been calm and rational.He refuses to be a complete bastard in front of his son and me.When he has a bad mood or his temper is raging out of control, Knuckles always has Tease or Marie remove us from the room so we don’t see what’s going on.That’s a side of himself he doesn’t want us to see even though I have once or twice since this all took place.

I know why Micah doesn’t want me to see that side of him.He’s thinking of what I’ve been through with Roger and doesn’t want me to view him in the same light as my ex.I would never see Micah the same as I do Roger.He would never put his hands on me in anger or hurt me just because that’s what he wanted to do for his own selfish reasons.The man couldn’t harm a woman or child if he was held at gunpoint.He goes out of his way to protect them and would give his own life if it meant saving someone else who couldn’t protect themselves.I’ve tried to explain this to him more than once over the last week since it’s come up more and more, but I don’t believe he’s hearing my words.I’ll have to figure out a way to show him I’m not lying and how I truly feel about him.

Tease understands where I’m coming from and knows I could never see his cousin in the same light as my ex.I know he’s tried to talk to him about the situation, but it doesn’t get through Micah’s thick skull.Eventually it will.Honestly I think it’s because of everything that happened a month ago.Maybe he feels it’s still too soon for me to believe the words I’m saying or something.

Anyway, Marie, Rooster, and I have been working hard to get the house prepared for Micah to return.The first time I was in his home was with Tease.We went to grab him some clothes to take to the rehab center and I got to explore the house he rarely stays in unless he needs a break from the clubhouse and all the craziness that goes on there.His home is gorgeous and I’m jealous of him because of it.The house is huge and has an open floor plan.Everything has been painted in neutral colors and the flooring is dark.There are windows everywhere to let the natural light in during the day.I fell in love with the house the second I walked in the door.And don’t even get me started on his master bedroom and the en suite.

The bathroom has a shower big enough for five grown men to be in at the same time while the tub can easily fit three people.I’ve dreamed of soaking in the tub after using the shower with its multiple shower heads.It’s my dream bathroom and I want to use it every single day.Tease saw me in there and laughed his ass off.It wasn’t that funny if you ask me.

Omen and Homicide have moved my things into the house from the cabin.Knuckles and I will be sleeping in the master bedroom together, his idea, and Kaden will be in the room built just off our room.It’s a full nursery the guys finished in a matter of days to be ready for Kaden.Knuckles got them all in gear so we’d move into a house ready for our family.My clothes are hanging in the closet with Micah’s and everything plus a ton more that Micah bought of Kaden’s is in the nursery.Our boy is being spoiled by his father and I don’t have the heart to tell him he can’t do it.He’ll learn eventually on his own.

“Are you ready to bring your man home?”Marie asks me as we get out of the SUV and make our way in the rehab center.

“I’ve been ready.He needs a change of scenery and to be surrounded by his family.I know not everyone could get up here with work and everything else going on.That’s part of the reason he’s been in such a horrible mood.He wants to be around everyone and take care of the problem back at the clubhouse.He feels useless and out of the loop because no one talks freely here like they do in the clubhouse.Micah feels guilty too.Like he’s the reason all of this is happening even though it’s not the truth,” I answer Marie who’s become like a mother to me in the last month or so since I’ve been with everyone more than ever before.

“How come Tease didn’t come with us today?I figured he’d be the first one in line to bring his cousin home,” Marie asks, as we head for Micah’s room without checking in with anyone.They all know who we are and don’t stop us any longer.Especially since there have been guys on the door of Micah’s room since he was transferred here.

“He wanted to stay back with Kaden.Says he knows he won’t get any time with him once Micah comes home.He doesn’t like to share his son now that he can hold him again.Plus I think he was planning on making dinner.He wants to grill something special for his cousin and ensure he eats a good meal instead of the shit he’s been getting in here.Says Micah has been losing muscle mass and needs to get back in the gym before he turns into a complete pussy,” I answer her as we both start laughing and walk into Micah’s room.

“There’s my girl.Been waitin’ on you all fuckin’ day,” he greets me as I step in his room and make my way over to him.“Where’s Kaden?”

“He’s with Tease.We know you’re gonna be a baby hog once you get home so Tease wanted to spend time with him before you get your hands on him,” I answer his question with laughter once again as Marie and him join in.

“What an asshole,” Micah murmurs under his breath as Marie grabs his bag and hauls it over her shoulder.
