“They use protection.”

Jason isn’t sold on it. “Still, isn’t there a possibility that it’snotyours?”

“It’s mine. I assure you.”

We stare at him.

Finally, he cracks and rolls his eyes. “It’s in her contract that no one comes inside her.”

That’s rather clever of him. If Kelly was in porn, which she wouldn’t be, I’d totally make that a part of her contract. That and the only dick she sucks is mine. Oh, and nobody gets in the ass. Or her pussy so all that’s left is her hand.

“Ah, dude, those poor bastards,” Jason laughs. “I’d be pissed if I showed up to fuck her and couldn’t finish.”

Bonner quirks an eyebrow at him. “Stop watching my wife’s pornos.”

“It’s your fault. You told me she was in them.”

“Still, it’s weird. Knock it off.”

Jason glares at him. “So you let Noah, but not me.”

“It wasn’t by choice,” I point out. “He practically tied me up and made me.”

Jason throws his head back, laughing. “That sounds even worse.”

He’s right, it does. So I redirect the attention back to Bonner and step further away from the trunk of the car when I notice the scratching picks up again. “So she’s quitting?”

Bonner shrugs. “No. Pregnancy porn is huge.”

None of us say a word.

“I’m not joking. It’s like double most of the time.” We continue to stare until he chuckles, lifting the beer to his lips. “She’s not acting anymore. She took a job doing some directing of an independent film.”

“Does she need any actors?” Jason immediately asks.

Now it’s Bonner’s turn to stare. “I should get the monkey back to his owner.”

“Yes, you should.” I turn back to my toolbox, picking up my phone to check the time. “I have work to do.”

The guys leave not long after that, and I’m left to the cars in the shop. I have to admit, as weird as they are, it’s nice to have them around. Don’t tell them, but I kind of like them.

It’s different working by myself. There’s no more trying to get guys to do their job. It’s just me and cars. Like working on the ranch. At least with cars, they don’t get into the neighbor’s field, making me chase them down in the middle of the night.

It’s a little after three in the afternoon when the shop door opens and in walks Kelly, by herself, without kids.

I smile, excited to see her. She spots the car immediately, her eyes sweeping over the black Expedition. “Is that my new car?”

I nod. “You like?”

“Can we afford that thing?”

Leaning into my toolbox, I shrug one shoulder. “I knew a guy who owed me a favor.”

Her lips press into a line. “Nick?”

Again, I nod. “Where’s the brood?”

“Ashlynn took them to the park after school.” She steps closer to me. “I thought maybe we could have dinner together. Just the two of us.”
