“Good girl.”
We pick up the pace, grinding into each other, faster and harder until both of us are dripping, both of us moaning, our faces together, mouths open and begging for the crash.
We cry out as it happens, riding wave after merciless wave and Izzy collapses into my arms. I carry her into my room and lay her on my bed. Then I clean myself off and crawl in next to her, pulling her against me.
“I should go,” she murmurs.
“I don’t think you should.”
“Staying the night looks bad.” Her words are already sleepy and I smirk. She’s not going anywhere.
“Well then it’s a good thing nobody’s watching.”
The next morning, as the sun is just starting to peek through the curtains, I take a deep breath. I can still smell her and it hits me that last night really happened. She was here. She stayed. Iroll over and reach for Izzy but the bed is empty. It's still warm though.
I open my eyes and sit up just in time to see her putting her clothes back on.
“Leaving so soon?” I ask and Izzy jumps.
“Fuck! I thought you were asleep.”
“I was,” I sit up on the edge of the bed, not bothering to cover up. Izzy’s eyes dart to my crotch and she blushes. “You know, baby girl, a lot of things look good on you. But the walk of shame isn’t one of them. At least let’s get coffee.”
“I need to get home,” she insists, slipping her shoes on.
“What’s the rush?”
“That’s none of your business. I have a life outside of working for you, you know.”
“Yeah. Fucking me on the side.”
Izzy shoots me a look that could burn the skin off my face and I laugh before standing up.
“Fine. But you forgot something.” I hold up her panties and her expression is priceless. She snatches them from my hand and attempts to slip them back on under her dress.
Then I hear her phone buzzing on the nightstand. I grab it, ready to hand it to her, but my eyes catch the screen before I do. I stop, my smile fading and my amusement gone.
Izzy notices and reaches for the phone but I hold it, my eyes slicing up to hers.
“Who’s Jaxon?”
Chapter 11
Izzy
“Who is Jaxon?”
Ethan asks the question for a second time but I am still frozen from the first. My brain attempts to web together a lie.
Old friend.
Ex boyfriend.
New neighbor.
Ex roommate’s…brother?
Honestly, everything I come up with sounds worse than the truth. And right now, with how often I see Ethan, how closely we are working together, the fact that the man is technically my landlord, I realize I can’t keep anything from him anymore.
