“His lawyer quit.”

“That’s rich,” Connor said.“His lawyer was with him this morning.”

Logan took another step towardConnor, thanking his lucky stars they were in a meeting room with no windows.“They also left together,” he said. “I confirmed it with our staff. Where didthe lawyer drop him off?”

“He’s saying they had aphysical altercation as well, and he had no choice but to eject Rodney from hisvehicle before they reached Rodney’s house.”

“Cute story,” Logan said.

Agent Ward closed his eyesand nodded, as if he didn’t believe it either.

“So nobody knows where Rodneyis,” Connor said.

“We’re currently unaware ofhis whereabouts, and we thought you all should be advised,” Agent Ward said.

“Don’t suppose you’re goingto help us with any protective measures here at the hotel,” Logan said.

“We’re keeping an eye on thehotel. Don’t worry.”

If the agents hadn’t beenpresent, Logan would have taken Connor in his arms right there. After somebrusque goodbyes and the departure of both men, Logan did just that.

“Shit,” Connor whispered intoLogan’s shirt.

“Like I said, you don’t leavemy sight.”

“I take it we’ve changed thelocks at this place,” Connor said.

“All the exterior doors arekey card access. We changed the codes for those as soon as the trust told ushe’d been terminated. Inside the perimeter are some manual locks. We’ll havelocksmiths out tomorrow. And the install of the new camera system starts in anhour. We can both supervise. But in the meantime, like I said—”

“I know.” Connor lifted hisface from Logan’s chest, staring at him with those big blue eyes that madeLogan want to carry him to the penthouse suite and call it a day. “I don’tleave your sight. I promise. But do you really think Rodney’s going to comeback here?”

“It’s not the hotel he’d beafter. It’s us. But luckily, I’ve got skills.”

“That you do.”

This kiss felt more daringand electric, maybe because they faced the risk of someone walking in at anymoment. Which reminded Logan that the door was unlocked. He gently pulled awayfrom Connor, moved to it, and locked it.

“Oh, wow,” Connor said.“Round two? Really?”

“As much as I’d love to, I’msecuring the room while we’re in here. I’ve got to call my dad, if that’sokay.” Logan tugged his phone from the inside pocket of his blazer.

“You think he’s in dangertoo?” Connor asked.

“No. He has a thing tonight, and I need to tell him I won’t be there.”

“A thing?” Connor asked.

“It’s a dinner. It’s like ananniversary for his business, and I’m supposed to be there.”

“Logan, I don’t want you tomiss that. One of the other guys can stay with me.”

For the first time, Loganrealized that prospect would mean leaving the guy he was crazy about under theprotection of gorgeous former porn stars he’d recognized upon their firstmeeting. Wanting to seem protective instead of jealous, Logan swallowed thethought.

“The other guys are ripped, butnone of them have fight training. I’ve got some interviews lined up for themorning that will hopefully change that.”

“Bring them here,” Connorsuggested.

“The interviews are here,”Logan said.
