Dimitri:I’m bored. And it’s fun watching you get so easily riled when nothing ever fazed you. You shared her with me first. It’s your fault I can’t get her out of my head.

Me:Where is she?

Dimitri:San Diego. Where else?

Me:Where are you?

Dimitri:Where do you think.Malaka.

“FUCK!”I bellow, throwing my phone across the cabin of the plane. I practically served her to him on a silver platter. Lonely and hurting. Who knows how vulnerable she is. He’ll play her. Seduce her slowly by playing the protective DOM, seeing to her every need. And there’s not a damn thing I can do about it thirty minutes out from landing in Japan.

“Trevor!” I roar, pacing in the front of the plane. While I wait for him to appear, I call the London office of my company from the phone.

“Charlotte! Get everyone in the conference room! Tell them to drop whatever they’re doing.”

“But sir—”

“Now!” I roar, throwing cushions from the couch. “Find Greg! He missed my plane. Make sure he’s on one to Japan.”

“I’ll have to place you on hold.”

“Don’t bother. I’m ringing the direct line to the conference room in three minutes. Anyone whose ass isn’t in a chair will be fired. Effective immediately.”

I hang up clenching my teeth. My chest heaves hard. So, Dimitri wants to play? He’ll soon learn I’m not out of the game…yet. El Diablo might have one last company to vanquish—Santos’.

Trevor finally appears, holding out a stack of fresh papers. They’re warm in my hand. “What’s this?”

“The résumés you requested. I printed them.”

“Ah,” I dismiss them. Throwing them down on my empty seat. His face turns red. “Finding a PR person will have to wait. I have one more person to destroy before I retire from being the devil.”

He raises an eyebrow. “Who is last on your hit-list?”

“Dimitri Santos.”

“I thought you were friends.”

“Maybe once,” I shrug. “but that’s in the past.”

“So, we’re taking apart his businesses?”

“Every last one. Do your job. Get me dirt on him, find out his weak spots… which holdings are in the red. Hell, sleep with his PA for all I care. Get it done.”

“I knew it wouldn’t last,” he smirks.

“What?”

“Your sudden desire to be good and noble.”

“I fully intend to be that too. This is a personal hit.”

“The first rule you taught me was never to let emotions rule you in the boardroom.”

“You’re right. But sometimes rules are meant to be broken. Get Greg on the phone now. If he’s not available—replace him.”

Christ, I’ve missed this. Love’s turned me into a pussy. I’m just as much on a path of self-discovery as Jessie is now. I twist the knife in my heart, channeling all the pain into determination to destroy Dimitri. That bastard has finally given me something to focus on besides my self-inflicted broken heart.

It’s invigorating, having something to destroy. I wish I could say I don’t take immense pleasure in it. But I do. A fuck-ton. Being able to feel victory in the boardroom for the first time in my career to bring him down is going to be fucking sweet.
