The music shut off.

Pool sticks paused.

Drinks lowered.

My men were expecting me.

But she was a surprise.

I lifted our linked hands in the air. “This is Luce… my old lady.”

Women pouted, flicking their fake hair in agitation.

My men cheered.

Luce was lifted high and passed from man to man as they pressed sloppy kisses on her cheeks.

“Smith? What the hell is going on?” She yelled as they carried her further away from me.

“It means we’re married in the eyes of the MC.”

“What?!” She shrieked.

I laughed, as I walked towards the back needing to meet Vasyl and Will at the table. I spotted Shanna and crooked my finger at her.

“Don’t ever do that again,” Duke growled close to my ear, pissed that I summoned his woman.

“I can do whatever the fuck I want… or did you forget your resigned and made me Prez.”

I met his cold eyes not backing down an inch.

“I’m only protecting what’s mine.”

“So am I,” I replied. My eyes cut to Shanna’s as she grabbed Duke’s hand. “Hey Shanna, I need a word with Duke at the table. Do me a favor and look after my woman while we meet?”

“Of course.” She smacked Duke on the arm. “Down boy. He’s in charge now.”

“I don’t like him commanding you…”

She raised an eyebrow as he pouted. “Oh yeah? Well, you don’t command me either. Don’t forget that.”

“The baby in your belly says otherwise.”

“Congrats.” I clapped Duke on the shoulder and shook my head. The two of them looked ready to go at it. Duke and Shanna are loud as hell when they do. By the way he’s looking at her, I wouldn’t doubt he’d carry her off and take her in one of the club rooms. But we have urgent business.

“Later. We need to talk.” I grabbed his arm leaving him no choice but to follow her with his eyes. I nodded to Vasyl and Will, signaling that it was time. Everyone followed me into the backroom where I took a seat at the head of the table. The gavel rested next to my right hand.

“What’s this about?” Duke asked. He sat back from the table with his boots crossed out in front of him.

I signaled to the pledge hovering by the door. “Get us some drinks.” He nodded, shutting the door quietly.

“Los Coyoteslost a shipment and a few men. The Felons blatantly took them out.”

“Fuck.”

“Exactly.” My eyes met Duke’s.

“Do you want me to call my police contacts and give them a tip?”
