“Shit fucked up with me, Anjo.”
“No, your pride is too fucking big. You couldn’t get hard, so you shut me out. Deprived me of a physical connection with my husband.”
“Tell me you didn’t look at me fucking different.”
She stared down at me. “Never… because the man I married, I know how he gets down. I also understood the immense stress your body was under. You didn’t give me a chance to show you that I understood.”
“Come home, Anjo… I need you.” I reached and pulled her closer to me, kissing her stomach softly while looking up into her eyes.
“I’ve always been fighting for us while you’ve been fighting with yourself. I need you to take this time to figure out what you want, Quasim. If you’re in it, then I need you to be in it whenshit is dark, and when things aren’t. I love you and that has never been the question… I’m not staying where I’m not heard. I’ve done that before, and I’m not doing it again.”
She walked back into the closet, and I followed without hesitation. I stepped behind her and kissed the curve of her neck, feeling the way she shivered by my touch.
“I’m sorry, my love… I never meant to hurt you. You know that right?”
She remained quiet, but she didn’t pull away from me like she had before. I turned her gently, backing her up until her spine met the mirror. Her reflection stared back at me. She was tired, but still beautiful.
Still my Anjo.
My dick was already hard while admiring her. Her lips were fuller because of pregnancy, and her hair was brushed back, stopping under her ears. She looked soft and strong at the same time, and it hurt.
Her breath was caught in her chest, as she felt me press against her. “Quasim…”
“I’m sorry for making you feel like you had to fight for us. For acting ashamed when you’ve always been my crown, Anjo.”
My lips brushed against her ear.
“You’re my queen. The fact that I made you feel like anything less is on me. That’s a reflection of me failing as your husband. And I swear to God, I’m gonna fix that.”
I expected her to cry, crumble in my arms, and she didn’t. She stared up into my eyes. “I need to grab my suitcase,” she said quietly, gently pushing past me.
I allowed her because she heard plenty of words before. Now, it was time to remind her of who I really was with action.
“Let me carry that out for you, Anjo.”
“Thanks.”

“I knowlike hell you hoes wasn’t about to take off without me?” Kobe ran onto the jet, as if we were taking off without him.
He texted the group chat and told us his Uber was in traffic.
“Had you not been trying to link with your little yeah, you could have stayed at the hotel with us in Ashbourne.” Synthia snickered as she pulled her legs up.
We all snickered as he squinted his eyes and kissed her cheek, before mushing her. “Don’t be a hater because you and your man broke up.”
“You have to be together to break up… we’re friends and have always been. That’s my nigga right there.”
I laughed as me and Capri sat across from each other with our laptops out. She stopped at a random gas station on our way to the private airport to get a slushie. “Did Meer make you promise not to cut up?”
“Now you know those men aren’t too damn far… I didn’t bother to give Roy the rundown on the kids because I know he gonna be right behind me.” Alaia snickered. “Actually, I need him to be… three toddlers, you can imagine how limited our time is together.”
“My brother… he is my brother.” Capri loudly reminded her.
“Then why they gotta fuck good?” Erin slurred, and we all turned to look at her, as she downed another shot. “Look, between Jaiden about to be drafted and my two little spawns… I needed this mommy getaway. I started drinking with Capone this morning.”
“So much for sharing a damn hotel room,” Alaia muttered.
