“Make a nest for Immy, Daddy!” she bossed. “I gots to be all snuggly.”

“I know, baby,” he said as he lay pillows in a U shape. Then she climbed in and he put the blankets over her.

To her surprise, she let out a yawn.

“Poor baby, so tired. I’m going to go and get you a bottle.” He grabbed a pacifier for her, popping it into her mouth.

She blushed, but nodded. Truthfully, she loved having a bottle. When he returned, she was in a sleepy state. She grumbled slightly when he shifted her around, sitting next to her so he could lay her over his lap. She didn’t open her eyes as he took her pacifier.

When the nipple of the bottle was placed in her mouth, she let out a small sigh.

Perfect.

She screamed as Lauren stared at her with lifeless eyes.

Then the man in black turned to her and raised his gun.

No, no, no!

“Yes,” he said. “You’re next.”

No!

“Immy!Immy, wake up, baby. Hey, Twinkles. Wake up for me.”

She opened her eyes with a gasp to see someone looming over her. A scream of fear escaped her before she realized it was Jenner.

The door opened and another scream escaped her.

“Shit. Fuck,” Tobias said. “That’s a bad one.”

“I scared her when she woke up,” Jenner said with regret in his voice. “Baby, it’s me. Jenner. And Tobias. You’re safe. You’re safe here with us.”

Sitting up, she peered around. It was too dark in here.

Since the night of the kidnapping, her fear of the dark had gotten worse. She wrapped her arms around herself.

“Too dark.”

“Shit.” Tobias turned on the light and she winced, blinking until her eyes adjusted.

Jenner stood next to the bed. She glanced over at the armchair where a blanket and pillow sat on it. She hated that he slept on the armchair, but he still thought he’d wake her up.

Although she thought that sounded like an excuse.

Maybe he doesn’t want to sleep with you . . .

“Hey, where did you just go?” Tobias sat on the other side of the bed and reached for her.

With a sob, she threw herself at him.

He drew her into his lap, rocking her. “Bad nightmare, huh?”

“Y-yes. I s-saw him kill L-lauren. He said that I-I was next!”
