Yep. Just as Immy thought.

This is who Lauren thought that Jenner should be seen with. And Immy got it. They were definitely in the same league. Both of them were so beautiful it almost hurt Immy’s eyes.

They could make beautiful babies and she could be crazy Auntie Immy.

Immy could totally see that working.

But the thought of it just made her want to cry.

“What the fuck?” Sampson snapped, not bothering to try and temper his tone. Or speak quietly.

“Amaya is the one that won your auction. We had to have someone do the bidding for her, though,” Lauren said.

“Oh right. Guess I will need to contact you about that,” Jenner said awkwardly.

“We need to leave,” Sampson said bluntly.

“Oh, of course,” Amaya said.

“It’s early, surely you can stay, Jenner,” Lauren said.

“I really can’t. You understand, Amaya?”

“Of course. That’s fine.” Amaya smiled at Jenner.

But it wasn’t fine with Lauren and it was clear that she expected Immy to say something from the way she was glaring at her.

“I need to go to the bathroom,” she said, stepping forward since that was her only free path. It meant she had to push through the two women.

But, quite frankly, she didn’t care that she kind of pushed Lauren out of the way. The woman let out a surprised grunt.

Immy couldn’t stop herself from muttering a ‘sorry,’ though.

Darn it.

She rushed to the bathroom, ignoring her name being called after her. Heading straight to the toilet, she peed and then exited to wash her hands. She had to admit that she’d kind of expected Lauren to follow her, berate her. Immy stared at herself in the mirror.

It was better this way.

Better for Jenner. And how often had he sacrificed for her? He deserved to have someone worthy of him. Someone who could help him.

Immy had always been a liability.

Moving out of the bathroom, she came to a surprised stop when she saw Jenner.

An angry Jenner. He stormed toward her, looming over her. “What was that?”

“Um, what?” she asked.

God, he was magnificent when he was angry. It was like his eyes shone. And she was mesmerized.

Under his spell.

“Running off like that? Why did you do that?” he demanded.

“I had to pee.” It was really lame and she knew it. So did he by the way his eyes narrowed as he glared down at her.

“You don’t ever run off from me, Immy.”
