“It’s for a vacation. I’ve been saving my own money and the swear jar money for a family trip. With all of us. Which now includes Gray. So I need to save some more.”

Both Jenner and Sampson gaped at her.

“Although I might have had enough if Sampson wasn’t taking his money back out.”

“And I once borrowed a twenty when I needed some cash,” Jenner said, sounding guilty.

Rude.

“Where did you want to go?” Jenner asked.

“The happiest place on earth!” she cried “In Florida.”

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Jenner asked in a soft voice. “I would have taken you.”

“Because I didn’t want you to have to pay for it. Well, other than the money you put in the swear jar. But you don’t swear as much as this guy.” She pointed her thumb at Sampson. “No one does, I don’t think.”

“Hey,” Sampson said without heat. “You were really saving for a holiday for all of us?”

“Yeah. But it’s not a surprise, now. I just wanted all of us to be together . . . the way we used to be.”

“Aww, Immy. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize.” Jenner hugged her tight. “And I can add some more money to the pot.”

She shook her head. “No. I’m doing this. With a bit of help from you guys. But mostly me.”

“And me. I asked for a subscription rate,” Tobias said dryly.

“Hey! I want one of those too,” Sampson said.

“You were getting it for free for ages!” she cried. “You owe so much we can probably all go on vacation tomorrow.”

Sampson just shrugged.

“I can pay his share,” Jenner told her.

“Nope. No! Now, can I please get down? I need to stick Abe’s sheets in the wash.”

“Why the fuck are you washing Abe’s sheets?” Sampson demanded. “Christ. I’m gonna go broke now.”

“Welcome to the club,” Tobias told him.

“I’m washing Abe’s sheets because they need it. And I want to help him. He’s having a shower. I think he’s been feeling guilty about what happened with Maeve. Like it was his fault or something. Anyway, I’ve got him up and moving and I need to wash these sheets and get them back on his bed.”

“Wait,” Sampson said. “You were walking down the stairs with those?”

“Yes.” She glared at him.

“No Twizzlers for a week as punishment,” Jenner told him.

“Fair,” Sampson said.

“Not fair! All of you are being very mean to me right now.”

“I’ll carry them for you,” Tobias told her, bending over to pick them up.

“Do badasses wash sheets?” she asked.

“Badasses can do anything.”
