Digging his fingers in my waist, he thrusts one more time, coming inside me and filling me with his hot, sticky liquid.

Spent, we breathe heavily and then we kiss for long minutes as our heartbeats return to normal. Then we clean each other, our hands roaming all over the other’s skin. Helping me out as I am too shaky on my feet, he gently dries me before gathering me in his arms and placing me on the bed.

Palming my face, he lowers his head to my forehead, inhaling me. Goose bumps scatter all over my skin.

“God, I am addicted to you,” he rasps, kissing me so gently.

Caressing every inch as if he wants to imprint every curve, he whispers I love you’s and promises of forever I know he will keep.

We make love all night, unhurried, sensual, and deep. And I know the reason I never belonged to anyone else—I was destined to become his.

Before we fall asleep, I vow no one will take my happiness from me. I won’t allow it and with this vow, I give in to the most serene sleep of my life.

But when I wake up, I frown. I expected to find his warm, hard body next to me, but the spot is cold. In his place, it’s only the crumpled sheets and the memory of last night.

As I sit up in bed, he walks into the room carrying a breakfast tray. Peacefulness washes over me as we eat our breakfast in bed. All possibilities lay before us. I refuse to acknowledge the Syndicate. I want to live in this heavenly bubble a while longer.

Seeing the walk-in closet, I say in a teasing note, “I hope you saved a lot of money while I wasn’t here.”

He throws his head back and laughs so wholeheartedly; it warms my chest, pulling a smile from me in return.

He arches an arrogant brow. “Don’t worry. Not even you can spend all the money I have, amore mio.”

“Oh, you’ll regret saying that, amore.”

“Never. You want the world. I’ll bring it to you and lay it at your feet. With or without a price tag, you’ll have whatever that greedy little heart of your desires.” Determination seeps from every letter, and my chest soaks up his love, replenishing my heart.

I tilt my head. “Well, you have me, and that is priceless. Seems like you have made the deal of your life.”

“Most definitely.” He looks so delighted that I bring so much joy into his life.

“There is more to why I brought you here,” he says and stands up, scratching his neck.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him nervous, so I wait with bated breath as he goes to the walk-in closet. When he returns, my hand flies to my mouth.

It’s one thing to know I am his woman, but this small velvet box represents a clear visual. When he flicks the lid open, I see the princess cut diamond ring shining so brightly it’s almost blinding.

“Are you sure?”

He groans. “I am. I don’t allow anyone to tell me anything in general, but you, my Silver Death, my lovely angel, my life’selixir, are the woman I love and choose to spend my life with. You’ll always be the exception. There’s no one I love more in this world.”

“I am your damnation. Choosing me—” I swallow, emotions lodged in my throat.

“Then so be it. I’d be damned either way. I prefer to be damned by having you in my life than by not having you. And so we’re clear, I’d choose you even if I’d have to wage one war after another for the rest of my life.”

“I’ll fight alongside you,” I murmur.

“You most probably will.”

“No regrets.”

“No regrets. Till death do us part,” he says, grinning.

“Why are you smiling?” I ask, wanting to know this man better than he does.

“I am thinking of negotiating with the devil himself for an indefinite time with you, even in the afterlife.”

With a full heart, the biggest smile blossoms on my face. “Amore mio, he’d never stand a chance against the two of us.”
