"Fuck, you're a stubborn, strong woman," he muttered, turning to Trey. "Arrange for the house to be furnished with the basics, please. Use my account."
I opened my mouth to protest – I didn't want him paying for my things – but he silenced me with a finger pressed gently against my lips. My heart fluttered involuntarily as his touch sent shivers down my spine.
"Shh," he murmured, pulling back his finger. He removed his vest and draped it over my shoulders, the weight of it was surprisingly comforting. "See this? This means you're mine." His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument. Somehow, I didn't mind.
Nate and Hammer walked in, laughing at the sight of me sitting on the kitchen bench in my sleep shorts and oversized T-shirt, swamped by a massive leather vest. I tried to ignore them, focusing instead on the warmth that spread through me from the vest.
"Fuck..." Trey exclaimed when he entered the room, taking in the scene before him. He pulled out his wallet and handed twenty dollars each to Hammer and Nate. Corvus raised a questioning brow at him.
"I bet them you wouldn't give her your cut," Trey explained, smirking. Laughter erupted from Corvus, a sound that both reassured and terrified me.
"Say hi to my old lady," he told Trey, the words sending a thrill through me.
Chapter 18
Corvus King
Istood there between Tempest's legs, her thighs warm against my hips as she sat on the kitchen counter. The dim light from the single bulb above casted shadows over Nate, Trey, and Hammer, their faces etched with both loyalty and amusement.
"Say hi to my old lady," I said gruffly to Trey, my voice low and gravelly.
"Old lady?" Tempest quipped, one eyebrow raised. "You do know I'm younger than you?"
The whole room erupted in laughter, as I leaned in a gave her a small kiss, the sight of her swamped in my cut was making my dick hard.
"Alright, boys, get outta here," I ordered. "Tomorrow, make sure Tempest's house is secure."
"Sure thing, VP," Nate replied, his eyes locked on mine, acknowledging the order. Trey nodded, flashing a quick grin before following suit. As they disappeared into the night, Hammer lingered, gaze focused on the broken front door lying on the floor.
"VP, you might wanna help me with this," he said, bending down to lift the heavy wood. I walked over, muscles tensing as we hoisted it back into place, leaning it against the frame to create the illusion of security.
With the door propped up, Hammer gave me a nod and left, leaving Tempest and me alone.
"Thank you," she whispered, her voice soft and shy as she hopped off the counter and approached me. Her eyes, those captivating yellow orbs, locked onto mine as if searching for something to hold onto in the chaos of our lives. I couldn't help but smirk at the vulnerability behind that fiery gaze. "Come on, princess," I said, my voice gruff and fatigued, "show me to this bed roll of yours. I need some sleep."
She hesitated, then coughed nervously, her delicate fingers twisting together. "Um, okay," she murmured, leading me through the darkened hallway.
The house was a mess - peeling wallpaper cracked floorboards, and an air of abandonment that hung heavy in every room. But it was hers. And now, it would be mine too.
"Here," she said softly, pushing open a door to reveal a large, dimly lit room. My eyes drifted to the makeshift bed on the floor, and I couldn't help but chuckle. "That looks like a yoga mat, princess."
"Hey!" she protested, laughter bubbling up. "It's not a yoga mat, okay? It's... well, it's what I've got. If you're staying, you might as well get comfy."
"Comfy" wasn't exactly how I'd describe it. The thin mattress did little to hide the hardness of the floor beneath, but I wasn't about to complain. Crawling onto the makeshift bed, pulling Tempest to my side. Her body fit perfectly against mine as if we were two pieces of a puzzle that fate had finally put together.
"Jesus, this house needs a lot of work," I mumbled, feeling the chill seep in from the cracks in the walls.
"Y-yeah," she stammered, shivering slightly. "But I'll get it done slowly."
"Fuck no, you won't," I countered immediately. "The boys will be here tomorrow and they'll get the whole thing done."
She sat up, looking at me with disbelief written all over her face. "What the fuck, Corvus?"
"Princess, the VP of Devil's Cut cannot live in a house without a working front door," I explained, my voice firm. "This place needs to be a fortress, and the boys will get it done."
"Wait, the VP of Devil's Cut lives here?" she asked, her golden eyes wide with realisation.
I studied her face, those golden eyes glistening with uncertainty. "If you think me claiming you as my old lady means I'm gonna sleep without you every night, you must be crazy," I told her, raising my brows.
