“I fucked my fist in the shower to that picture, wishing you were there.”
My stomach swooped with desire. “I’m here now.”
Somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew this was unprofessional to the nth degree. I knew we should be focusing on work. That Cliff could bring a contractor back at any moment. But Gage’s presence was so overpowering, overwhelming. Everything from his hard body up against mine to the delicate scrape of his chin against my cheek and the subtle scent of his masculine cologne had me forgetting what Ishouldbe doing and chasing after what I wanted.
“Let me show you what I imagined,” he said.
My eyes rolled back for a moment, but soon he had me spinning against the table, my long hair wrapped around his fist. He pulled until my neck arched back and the top of my head rested against his shoulder.
“You drive me crazy, Farrah,” he said against my temple.
A whimper passed my lips. “What do you think you do to me?”
He answered by pressing me forward, so I was bent over the table. Jerking roughly, he pulled my skirt over my hips, baring my ass and my new thong to him.
“Fuck,” he moaned, lowering down, sliding his hands over my hips before jerking my thong to the side. Then his face pressed against my backside, his tongue drawing up my slit.
I shuddered against him, barely holding myself up on the table as he began his assault on my clit. He nipped, sucked, blew puffs of tantalizing air, making it hard not to scream.
And just when I thought I was going to come, he pulled away from me, leaving me limp. Desperate. “Gage,” I begged, my forehead rolling against the table.
“Now you know how I felt last night. So fucking lonely without you,” he said, and the sound of a ripping condom wrapper filled the room. “Hang on to that coffee.”
I looked up, barely taking hold of the coffee cups before he pressed inside me, stretching and filling me to the hilt. “Gage,” I whined.
“Take it like the good girl you are,” he commanded. And he thrust into me over and over again until I was mere pieces shuddering around him, until I finally fell completely apart, crying out his name as I came.
He finished inside me, clinging to my hips and pulsing deliciously against my tender parts. Before pulling out, he brushed my hair aside and kissed where my neck met my shoulder.
“That’s what I imagined,” he muttered. “But this was so much fucking better.”
He pulled out and moved my underwear back in place before sliding my skirt down over my hips. I released my grip on the coffee, realizing only a little bit had spilled, and stood up, smelling us in the air.
He tossed the condom and wrapper in the trash can, then turned to me, taking my face in his hands and kissing me so deeply, feelings stirred in my chest. Could he really kiss me like this and feel nothing more than a physical connection? Because my heart was getting all kinds of confused.
If I was being honest, the fact that he had texted me after Levi's game meant a lot. It was like I wasn't just an employee or a random hookup to him. He cared about meandmy kids, and he hadn't even met Levi yet. But I needed to focus on other things before my thoughts got me in trouble.
“I should get back to work,” I said softly. “I have contractors coming by today.”
“Of course,” he replied, straightening his jacket and tie. “I have a press conference with Jason Romero, so I won’t be around the hotel.”
My heart sank. I missed spending time with him. But maybe it was good to get some space. “I’ll text you tomorrow night.”
His lips curled into a delicious grin. “Looking forward to it.”

For the next few hours,I busied myself, helping the people coming to install the rest of the lighting fixtures, but at a certain point, there was only so much I could do. So I went back down to the empty office to check my email, when a news notification came through my phone.
LIVE: GUBERNATORIAL HOPEFUL PARTNERS WITH TEXAS BILLIONAIRE ON MASSIVE FACTORY BUILD
I tapped through the notification and was taken to a news page with live footage of Gage sitting next to a man I’d gotten countless political postcards from already, Jason Romero.
Jason looked like he belonged in a wax museum, so flawless it was almost unsettling. He spoke smoothly into the microphone, saying, “Gage is a true Texan, having grown up in a small town and headquartering Griffen Industries here in this great state. I’m excited at this budding partnership with someone who represents Romero Corp’s values—he’s hardworking, smart, offers jobs to countless Texans, and is always pushing for progress while maintaining traditional ideals.”
Clapping sounded in the background, making it seem like they were at a political rally instead of a press conference.
Gage spoke next, saying, “My goal in building Griffen Industries has always been to support families here in Texas. Opening a Romero Corp plant in West Texas lines up perfectly with that vision. I’m excited to see what this partnership brings.”
