“You feel so good,” he said, rolling his hips again.

I moaned against his kiss, using my legs to pull him closer. All I could say was his name.

He pumped a steady rhythm into me, the friction delicious, but his words were even better. He cradled my face as I held on to his shoulders, and he said, “Olivia Griffen, you are everything good about this world. Your body, a soft place to land.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “Your eyes, that see the good in everyone. Your heart, that loves harder than I thought was humanly possible.” He picked up speed, all my insides turning to mush around him, his words. “You’re perfect.” He grabbed my hips, pushing into me. “You’re mine.”

Tears flowed down my cheeks as I came around him, my heart soaring, my body shuddering, all of me... falling.

I lay in Liv’s bed with her, cradling her against my body and brushing my thumb over her cheek as I stared in her eyes. She was beautiful in the dim lighting, her eyes deep blue pools catching the little light in the room.

She lifted her arm to brush her hair behind her ear, and I noticed something I hadn’t seen before. I tapped on the black ink contrasting her pale bicep. “What is that?”

She glanced at it, a soft smile forming on her lips. “My brothers and I got matching tattoos about fifteen years ago now... I was seventeen, and they used all their extra cash to bribe the artist into doing mine too.”

I chuckled. “Rhett got Tyler on board for that?” Liv’s second oldest brother usually played by the rules, taking fewer risks than her oldest brother Gage and definitely less than Rhett.

“He can be convincing when he wants to be.” She bit her lip. “That was a tough time for Gage. He and Dad had just fallen out, and I think he felt like he was losing everything. I convinced them to get this tattoo as a reminder.”

“Of what?” I asked.

She leaned forward, kissing right above my heart. “Of home.”

“So the windmill?”

“It’s a symbol... of life, the water it gives. Of keeping your eyes where it matters. Because you can always spot it, like a country lighthouse. And mostly, of how it’s constantly moving, but no matter how much it moves, it’s always there. Rain or shine, sun or snow. Just like us Griffen kids are always there for each other.”

Her words made my chest fill with warmth, emotion. She spoke so beautifully about her family. That was one thing I knew for sure—we had so many similar values we could build a life around. “Your brothers are so lucky to have you.”

“We’re lucky to have each other,” she replied earnestly.

I bit my lip, looking at her. Because I knew I was seeing the rest of my life. “I think we need to tell Maya and Rhett.”

“Is it too soon?” she asked.

I shook my head. “Liv, I’m in. I’mallin. If you want to wait, I’ll respect that, but I don’t want to hide how happy I am from anyone.”

She smiled, her eyes somehow even brighter. “Me neither. We can tell Maya. But I don’t think she should know we’re sleeping in the same bed right away.”

I raised my eyebrows. “It’s not like she’s lying between us or anything.”

“No, but she still loves her mom so much. I don’t want her to feel like I’m trying to take Regina’s place.”

My stomach dropped, because Liv was right. She was always right. Maybe I’d have a turn sometime. “Okay, we’ll tell her that we’re dating. But once she’s asleep... we’re fucking.”

Liv squirmed beside me. “Damn, do you have to be so hot?”

I grinned at her. “You think I’m hot?”

“Don’t be coy. Whatever magic you worked earlier gave me the best orgasm of my life, so shhh.”

“The best of your life, huh?” I couldn’t help my grin. “I guess those anatomy classes paid off.”

She put her hand over my face. “Shhh.”

I chuckled, pulling her closer. “And what about Rhett?” I asked. “Do you think he can handle this?” He was my best friend. And I didn’t want to push him away when he needed me most.
