“Probably have a lot less sex,” I quipped.

She giggled. “Maybe. I’d smile a lot less too.”

That warmed my heart. “I’m here, Maggie Ray, and I’m not going anywhere.”

She squeezed my hand a little tighter. “Do you mind if we have a little rest and I clean up before we go to Gage and Farrah’s place?”

“Of course.” I backed her car out of the parking spot, and we drove back downtown to The Retreat.

She napped while I checked out the weight room. Then we showered and changed before driving to Gage and Farrah’s place in Denton. Mags looked beautiful in the passenger seat, wearing a flowy olive shirt with ripped black jeans that did her ass so many favors they should be on the payroll.

“What?” she asked as she caught me looking.

I smirked. “Just thinking about how fine you look.”

She reached out, running her hand over my thigh. “It’s not fair when you just wake up looking like that.”

I chuckled. “Growing up, sharing a bathroom with Liv, I have to say I’m happy to be a guy.”

We slowed as I pulled into the driveway behind Gage’s Tesla.

“There’s the expensive car,” Maggie said, almost to herself.

“What?”

She unbuckled. “The other day I saw them pull up in a minivan, and I thought, no way. Gage has to be driving a fancy car.”

I laughed. “He loves that thing.”

“It’s pretty,” she agreed.

“I think he keeps the minivan just to prove to Farrah that he’s down to earth.”

She laughed, and we got out of the car. I held her hand as we walked up the driveway to the light brick house. It wasn’t huge, but big enough for all of them—way less assuming than the fancy downtown condo Gage used to call home.

“I love this yellow door,” Mags commented as I rang the doorbell.

“We can paint my door yellow if you want.”

She turned to me, smiling as the door swung open and Cora grinned up at us. “You’re here!”

“Hi, Cora Bug!” I said.

She scrunched her nose. “Bug?”

“Well, you said you’re not a princess,” I retorted.

Putting her hands on her hips, she said, “Well I ain’t a bug either.”

Farrah came behind her daughter, laughing. “Let them in, Cora. You’re letting out all the cool air.”

Cora got out of the way and Maggie chuckled, stepping in ahead of me. When we were inside, I noticed the boys lying out on the living room floor playing video games. “Where’s Gage?”

“Grilling out back,” Farrah said. “Just like your daddy, always on that grill.”

I laughed. “He had to wait until we grew up and moved out to have a turn at the grill. Dad would never let us touch his.”

Mags smiled. “Farrah, your house is gorgeous.”
