“Me? You’re one to talk.”

“Sounds like we’re just fire together.”

He smiles, working his hands through my hair before cupping my cheek. “Are you sore?”

I don’t know how to answer because I don’t want him to blame himself. “Maybe. Not too bad.”

“Maybe?”

“Okay, a little.” He starts to frown, so I say, “It must be that monster dick of yours.”

My joke does exactly what I want it to. He laughs. “You’re good for my ego.” He leans over, placing a soft kiss on my lips. “I drew you a bath.”

“A bath? Why?”

“I thought it might help.”

“Aidan…” I can’t help but laugh. “Girls everywhere lose their virginity every day. It’s not a big deal.”

“I don’t care about girls everywhere. I care about you.”

My heart nearly melts. I could get used to him saying these kinds of things to me. I reach out my hands, wiggling my fingers. “Then take me to my bath.”

He helps me to my feet, and I start for the door, but he holds back on my hand. “Darrin’s here, so you should probably throw some clothes on.”

A sliver of embarrassment races through me. That wouldn’t have been good. Darrin’s been cool about us so far, but I’m sure me walking out into the main house naked would send him over the edge. “Good call.” I throw on a Warner Bulldog shirt I find on the bed that’s Aidan’s. The crumpled leggings on the floor will also do as I make my way to the bathroom.

Really, the pain isn’t all that bad. I have a sneaking suspicion he went easy on me.

To my surprise, he follows me into the bathroom and sits on the counter to watch me undress. Warmth flares all over. “You want to join me?” I ask, stepping into the tub. The bubbles tease my skin in a nice caress.

He groans. “Evil woman. I would love to, but Darrin’s literally out in the kitchen.”

The warm water coats my body as I sit, sloshing up over my breasts to my neck.

“Does it feel better?” he asks, hopeful.

I nod. This is the sweetest thing ever. “So,” I start, wiping my arms down with the vanilla-scented bubbles. “When can we do that again?”

Aidan smirks, looking away. “You really are trying to kill me.”

“Guilty,” I tease.

In the other room, my phone starts to ring. Aidan hops off the counter. “I’ll get it.”

“Don’t bother,” I try to tell him, but he’s already out the door, leaving it open a crack.

The ringer cuts out right before I hear him say, “Bailey’s phone. She can’t talk right now.” I chuckle, shaking my head. This guy… “Sure. Of course, Mrs. Covington.”

Oh shit.I suck in a breath, scrambling out of the tub.

Heavy footsteps run down the hall, and I’m just stepping out when Aidan comes in, his face white.I’m so sorry, he mouths.

I try to act nonchalant, but I reach for the phone with shaking hands before holding it up to my ear. “Hey, Mom.”

She doesn’t say anything for a few seconds. “Was that Aidan?”

“Yes, Mom.”
