“Then wait until we do a grocery run so we can stock up!” Marty calls after him.
“We should order pizza,” Ryan says.
“I’m down with pizza too,” Payton calls out from the crowd.
Several guys chime in, wanting pizza, which settles that.
Marty sighs, hurrying inside, and I hear him call out to Ryan, in what I’m sure is a vain attempt at controlling the uncontrollable. Something he’s gonna have to get used to.
Lance is all smiles—I imagine he’s happy to be back in his element, seeing everyone acting like themselves and not all worked up over him.
Although, I still feel tension twisting up in my chest. Can’t go through something like we did last night without some of that lingering.
“Okay, guys,” I say. “I appreciate everyone rallying around us, but Lance and I need to wash the hospital off. I’m gonna get my man to his room.”
We hug it out with our guys, then go upstairs. I shower quickly and get into bed, but Lance takes some extra time before coming out in only his towel. He tosses it into the hamper by his closet, and as he approaches the bed, he notices my Sigma Alpha hoodie on the edge. The guys brought it for me to change into last night.
His lips curl into his dimples as he picks it up and throws it on, leaving the front open, as he sneaks glances toward the door, like he’s waiting for the guys to rush in and catch him. “I think I deserve this after everything I’ve been through.”
A rush of pride pulses through me, seeing my guy in our letters.
Lance retrieves an Alpha Theta Mu tank from his dresser drawer and tosses it at me. “You know what to do.”
I don’t hesitate. I wasn’t planning on putting any clothes back on, but this is too exciting to pass up. I toss on the shirt, and as good as it felt to see him wearing mine, I must admit I like being in his frat’s letters—as if now he really has claimed me.
Lance crawls under the covers, scooting his ass back against my cock.
“What is that monstrosity?” he jokes.
I laugh. “You can’t be in my hoodie like this and expect me not to be hard as hell.”
“Fair,” he says, tucking his ass even closer.
Fuck…
I slide my hand under the hoodie, groping at his flesh before kissing the back of his neck.
“You think Mom and Dad are gonna be okay?” he asks softly, and I know it’s because of how worried they were about him.
“It definitely triggered something in all of us, but time and you being okay is all that’s gonna make it better.”
“I just wish I hadn’t worried them.”
I cling to him tighter, hoping my hold might soothe him.
“I think any worrying is outweighed by how happy they are to have you well and back in my arms.”
“You’re right.”
He rolls toward me, rests his hand against my chest. “The whole experience made me reflect on what’s important, you know?” With his free hand, he runs his thumb along my jaw. “That we have to take advantage of every moment.”
“Reminds me of something I was chatting with my mom about. Something Grant had told her about how that’s all wecan do.”
“They’d want us to be happy,” he says, bringing to mind our conversation about Kacey at the skating rink. “And I’m happiest when I’m with you.”
He leans close and kisses me—a gentle kiss I eagerly embrace.
As he pulls away, we gaze into each other’s eyes before he says, “Okay, now just hold me close and keep appreciating your boyfriend.”
