I hear a car in the distance and turn my head to watch as it barrels into the park, narrowly missing a tree. Selene pushes off the car, goes to the back, pulls out a bag, and tosses it to me. I dig through and find a couple of knives, but, more importantly, I find lighter fluid.
I beam at her. “You give me the sweetest presents.”
I throw a knife to Mael and the other to Edric. Bailey still has hold of his chair leg. He does love his blunt impact weapons.
Me?
I’m a fan of fire.
I empty the rest of the bag on the ground but bend down and pick up a couple of rolls of bandages.
“These will do nicely.”
Five more cars follow the first one.
I glance at Edric, who tenses. He turns to Bailey.
“One word, and I will make it so you have to sit out her heat,” Bailey growls in a dark voice.
“What he said!” Selene says. She leans down and rips the train of her dress off and tosses me the material.
I blow her a kiss. “Thanks, crazy.”
I quickly soak the material in lighter fluid and giggle.
Bailey mutters something and shakes his head, which just has me laughing more.
Selene moans and all four of us whip our heads towards her.
“Selene?”
“I’m good. Just get ready.”
Her voice sounds breathing and like she’s close to coming. Damn, it’s hard to concentrate.
The cars park in a semicircle in front of us. Their cars empty, and huge alphas stalk towards us. Almost thirty of them.
This is it.
This is how it ends, one way or another.
I like our odds.
Chapter thirty-seven
Mael
He gets out ofthe car, oozing with confidence, and why wouldn’t he? He’s got a huge group of the Cobra’s most aggressive alphas with him, ready to wage war on us.
I thought seeing him would fix something in me and I would be able to kill him and just forget, but I can tell right now that even killing him it’s not going to end it.
I try to recall that time in his custody, but I can’t recall there being a second person.
Why, when I look at him, don’t I feel anything?
“You’ve gotten away from us twice now, Mael,” he shouts as soon as he gets close enough. “So, this is where you want to end this? Here in this shitty park? I look forward to it.”
Except he’s hiding again behind his line of alphas like the coward he is. The person who cut me up wasn’t like that.
