“Morning sickness kicking in yet?”
“No,” Aidyn said, shaking his head and looking down at his stomach. “I have about a week or two to decide if I’m keeping this baby. If I do, then that’s also about the time frame in which morning sickness kicks in. Apparently, it’s common with male Omegas, so I'm totally looking forward to that.”
I chuckled softly at his touch of sarcasm, rubbing the back of his hand with my thumb.
“Luke. Let me return the mark. You’ll feel better —-”
“No.”
Aidyn looked surprised then, even a little wounded at my outright refusal. I struggled to get up and reached for the mouthwash on the counter, rinsing my mouth out quickly before reaching down for Aidyn. When he stood up, I picked him up and set him down on the counter so that we were eye-to-eye, and I could lightly nuzzle his neck, breathing him in.
“I’ve wanted to mark you the moment I met you. I know where I want my mark to be, and this”—my thumb brushed over the mark I had placed at the junction of his collarbone. “Isn’t where I wanted. I forced my bite on you, and this is punishment for doing so. I won’t force you to bite me to make me feel better.”
“It wouldn’t be forced,” Aidyn mumbled, avoiding my gaze.
My Alpha preened, knowing that Aidyn would willingly return my mark despite everything that had happened between us, but now wasn’t the time.
“I want to do it right. I want you to be coherent and consent to my mark fully. And after we recover from me marking you again, you’ll give me yours, and I know exactly where I want it too.”
I ran my fingers on the inside of his thigh, his breath catching at my touch. “I’ll mark you here, on your inner thigh. Every day, you’ll have to spread your legs for me, and only me, so that I may tend to the mark, licking and sucking it each morning, making you want me.”
“I already want you,” Aidyn said, but his voice was breathless. I raised my gaze to look at him, and his cheeks were flushed beneath hooded eyes, his pheromones spiking with his arousal, and I knew if I touched his entrance, he’d be wet for me. I growled quietly at the thought, brushing against him so that he could feel what the thought had done to me, and he moaned softly.
“A-and where would my mark go?” he struggled to ask, his voice laced with arousal.
I picked up his hand and placed it at the base of my skull on the back of my neck. “I want your mark here after you’ve topped me.”
“What?!” Aidyn’s eyes grew large. Gone was the scent of arousal, replaced with surprise and unease. “Alphas don’t bottom or submit to Omegas, Luke.”
“And I’m not a normal Alpha, and you’re not a normal Omega. I want the world to know that I submitted to my Omega. That I will always submit to my Omega, my mate, whenever he asks it of me.”
Aidyn stared at me with wide eyes, but I could see the unshed tears that filled them. He leaned forward, pressing a kiss to my lips. I tried to pull off, aware that mouthwash wasn’t sufficient enough to erase the emptying of my stomach, but Aidyn pulled me closer, kissing me again.
“I love you,” he said finally. “I know I haven’t told you that yet, but I want you to know I do. I can be mad at you all I want, pissed off at the situation you put us in, but I know that thatdoesn’t change how I feel about you. You’re my Alpha, my Mate, and we’ll deal with this together.”
Luke
“Should you be drinking coffee while pregnant?” I asked curiously, looking at Aidyn as I entered the kitchen. I saw him purring around a travel mug of coffee, taking a small sip of the liquid bliss.
The purring stopped, and Aidyn glared at me as he sat the mug on the counter, screwing the lid of the mug in place. Even though the bonding sickness had forced me to take the week off, I still offered to take Aidyn to school—after I had assured him several times that I was well enough to do so.
“If we don’t want me arrested for homicide, yes. This pup will come out with a caffeine addiction like it’s papa.”
I couldn’t help the large grin that spread across my face as we exited the door. My phone beeped, and I realized I had forgotten to see who had called me so early this morning. I found three missed calls from my mother and another from the dean of the university. Curious, I played the voice message as we took the elevator to the parking garage and listened as the dean requested a meeting with me around two this afternoon and requested a video conference. I knew my scent changed as I could feel my stomach drop based on the look Aidyn was giving me, but I gave him a fake smile and shook my head, rearranging my emotions and trying to rein in what little control over my pheromones I had so that I didn’t worry Aidyn. It was clear this wouldn’t be good, but it could be dealt with later. However, this did mean that I might not be able to pick him up after classes, depending on how long the meeting took.
“Can I take a rideshare here after class?” Aidyn asked, getting in the car. “I still don’t want to go home. Unless you want your space, I don’t want to impose.”
I could tell by his tone that he was curious, but he never pushed, fully trusting me to tell him when I was ready. Of course, this made me feel worse because we were in this situation because he trusted me at one point.
“Please, I want you here with me.” I reached into my pocket and pulled out one of my credit cards and handed it to him. He blinked at it before looking at me, head tilted. “Let me pay for the trip. It’ll make me feel better since I can’t pick you up.”
“Fine,” he grumbled adorably, putting my card in his wallet before shoving it into his backpack. “But I will take the long way around and really rack up those pennies. Would it be okay if I took you up on the offer to move in?”
“We could go get your things this evening or this weekend. Whichever works better for you. Or we can abandon everything and buy new stuff.”
“How dare you!” Aidyn mocked in anger. “I cannot abandon my books. Besides, there is a hoodie or two of yours at my apartment, and they need me.”
“I can always get more hoodies, Aidyn.”
