“My husband is really all Jason knows. He’s only been with you for a couple weeks. You really need to get your home life under control.”
“I agree babe. Jason’s safety is my number one concern,” her husband walked in and kissed her on the cheek.
“I’m not sure if Tamia told you or not but I don’t need you telling me how to raise my son. I have a son and a baby on the way.”
“From the same woman that forced her way into my home and pulled out some of my wife’s hair? Tuh, good luck with that buddy.”
That was it, I had enough of his smart-ass mouth. I grabbed him by the collar of his nice expensive shirt and rammed his ass into the refrigerator. I’ve never openly let a man disrespect me or the woman I love, and I didn’t give a fuck at this moment either.
“We were cool but don’t you ever as long as you fuckin’ live think it’s okay disrespect, my woman. I’m on edge right now and if you ain’t never seen a hood nigga get crazy, then it’s best to keep yo fuckin’ mouth shut with smart ass remarks. Y’all think y’all can do and say what the fuck ya wanna but now with me.I’ll kill both of y’all and walk out right now with my son but I’m a gentleman and a businessman.” I released him, helping him straighten up his clothes. “The next time you try it, I’ll have my gun in yo mouth, and I’ll make her watch me scatter yo brains across the kitchen floor. I’ll see y’all in two days,” I smiled at them both.
I was going to take a break from coming over every day and spend some time with my family. Now that my secret was out, I didn’t have to tiptoe around. For the last few weeks, I was spending all my time with my son Jason trying to get to know him better. It gave me some time away from the house and help me put things into perspective. If I went home tonight and Blessyn gave me her ass to kiss, I was done and walking out for good and never looking back. I was too good of a nigga to waste away waiting for a woman to love me as much as I love her.
I was home earlier than expected. Usually, I would walk in late because I stayed until Jason was sleep. We had dinner as a family and everything. I thought Tamia’s husband was going to be cool, but tonight’s incident showed the muthafuckas true colors. He was intimidated that I was in my son's life. He nor his wife could keep me out away from him now. As I entered the house I could feel the difference. Blessyn wasn’t shut up in her room with my son. She was in the kitchen while Kani sat in his highchair eating strawberries.
“Did you eat already? I’ll be done cooking in a few.”
“No, I haven’t eaten.”
“Do you want something to eat, is the question. You haven’t eaten here in weeks,” she turned around to look at me.
“Yes, I’m hungry as fuck and when we sit down to eat, we will discuss what the fuck happened today. I’m about to shower and I’ll be back down here.”
Blessyn looked me up and down before turning her attention back to the pots. I took a long hot shower. I didn’t want to showBlessyn my frustrations, but I was going to get my damn point across. Blessyn’s figures appeared in the bathroom right as I was about to get out. Cutting the water off, I opened the glass door to see her hands covered in blood. I almost busted my ass trying to get out the tub and get to her.
“Where is Kani?”
“He’s downstairs in his playpen. All I did was lift him up out of his highchair and I felt a gush of fluid.”
“Shit Blessyn. I gotta get you to the hospital.”
I hurried to throw some clothes on. Blessyn changed into something clean while I got Kani changed and ready to go. We rushed to the hospital and waited for them to put us in a room. From the way the blood was flowing from her, I knew she had lost the baby. Blessyn hadn’t fully recovered from her gunshot wound before she was doing shit. She was a mother and I understood so once she was able to talk better, I let her be.
“I’m sorry to tell you guys this but you miscarried. I know how hard these things can be and sometimes we can’t prevent them. We’re going to keep you here for observation and if you need to speak with anyone, we have counselors here to assist you.”
In my heart, I knew this was a breaking point for her which is why I had already had Merci on standby to get Kani. This was going to be a hard time for both of us, and we still had a hurdle to climb. Blessyn stared off into space as I took my shoes off to climb in the bed with her. She turned her back so I could pull her into me.
“You know this is not the end of the world. We can make another baby. It may have not been time. Shit, Kani ass ain’t even one yet.”
“Yeah, but I know you’re mad at me and thinking it’s my fault ‘cause of how I acted earlier.”
“That shit that happened earlier can be talked about at another time. Right now, I just wanna make sure you good. I’m not mad that you lost the baby. I don’t know what your body was going through, but I do want you to know that you don’t have to be a fuckin’ supermom when you with me. We don’t have gender roles in our home. I can do the same stuff you do. If I gotta cook, clean, and tend to our son, I am totally capable of doing it.”
“I know you don’t want to talk about it, but this shit really is my fault. My gut was telling me not to go knock on that door, but I had to know what you were hiding from me. I’ve never been insecure a day in my life. The shit really made me feel like I don’t deserve you. Now we laying here without our baby growing in my stomach because I wanted to go and snatch a bitch wig off.”
“I should’ve been honest with you from the jump. We weren’t talking and I was really on the verge of just leaving and never coming back. Shit was bad for us, and I understand why but damn I thought we were getting better, and it turned sour again. Maybe it was due to us being coped up in the house together too long. Either way, I could feel that we were at the end of our ropes.”
“I’m really sorry for my part. I haven’t been completely honest either.”
I quickly prayed that she wasn’t about to tell me something that was going to piss me off and make shove her head between the rails in this bed.
“I believe I know he tried to kill us that night.” My heart started beating rapidly in my chest as I waited for her to tell me who. “Khi’s family.”
“Khi’s family, who?”
“He has this aunt that owns a flower shop. She used to be into a lot of shit but ended up doing a little jail time and that changed her life. She has three sons that I think do her dirty work. Khi was close to the middle boy. They were kinda close in age. Herflower shop is nice, but I think it’s just a cover up for what she really into.”
Blessyn’s story kind of made sense. Who else would want to avenge Khi’s death but his family? As soon as I got Blessyn out of the hospital and back home, I started putting my plan into action. I didn’t even talk to Perc about it because I wanted this to be personal. If a nigga could single-handedly try to kill me and Blessyn, I was going to return the favor, but I was going to make sure the nigga took his last breath.
