“Dimensional Gate!” Theo snarled.

A portal bloomed in front of the Fury. She swore. It swallowed her whole and spat her out again close to Tisiphone, who confronted her once more.

Morgan’s skin prickled. Corruption was imbuing the air.

He clenched his jaw against the powerful wave of evil energy drenching the Seventh Purgatory, so thick and vile it made it hard to breathe even though he was a demigod.

Elios was rising toward them.

Cassius and Theo dropped to cut him off while Victor and Loki faced the war demons and the Nephilim converging on them. The God of Darkness cursed, blinded by Cassius’s radiance and the dazzling brightness throbbing from the Spear of Light.

Eden kept pace with Morgan and the Reaper God as they closed in on the basin where Clotho and Lachesis were trapped. They landed with thuds that shook the ground and headed briskly toward the Goddesses.

“Iv—Ivmir!” Lachesis gasped. Her stunned gaze shifted to the Reaper God. “Tem?!”

“Save your energy,” Morgan said grimly.

Lachesis swallowed, raw anguish darkening her eyes. “Please, help Clotho first!”

Morgan stopped and looked over at the pale-faced, comatose figure a short distance away. His stomach twisted. He hadn’t made out the full details of the youngest Moira’s state from the distance.

Shadows exploded around the Reaper God, his eyes shrinking into gold-laced, crimson slits full of wrath.

Blood drenched Clotho’s dress and the rock she was bound to. From the way it had caked the material and the gore clinging to the stone, it wasn’t all fresh. The smell of iron scored Morgan’s nostrils, the Goddess’s ichor evaporating with hisses of steam from the mire it had created where it had soaked into the dirt. He ground his teeth.

He didn’t have to ask Lachesis what Elios had done to their sister.

That monster!

“Morgan,” Eden warned.

He followed her wary gaze. Tension knotted his shoulders.

Another army of war demons, Nephilim, and Cyclops had appeared on the rim of the crater.

“Shit!” Morgan cursed. He glanced at Eden, his hands fisting at his sides. “Think you can keep them occupied for a few minutes?!”

Eden scowled. “I’ll try.”

Crimson flared in her pupils. The magic she was born to wield silently expanded the sphere around her at the same time the blazing runes covering her staff spilled over onto her flesh. Static sparked the air above them. Lightning-charged clouds sprouted into existence where none had been before. They started spinning, bringing with them the smell of sulfur and ozone.

The power of the Nine Hells poured into Eden and the devilwood staff. It detonated around them in a violent blast that made the crater tremble and Morgan stumble.

Lachesis gaped at the bloodcursed mage.

“She is strong,” the Reaper God told an anxious Morgan. “Do not worry. She will hold them at bay.”

Morgan hesitated before nodding. Eden had proven more than capable of handling herself in battle.

Clotho’s eyelids fluttered weakly when they reached her. A dry sound left her parched throat as she swallowed.

“Te…mir?” she mumbled through cracked lips.

“Yes, Goddess.” The Reaper God gently clasped her hand with his bony fingers. “Conserve your strength. We shall soon set you free.”

Morgan gazed at the sky and the savage battle that still raged there. He could feel the fierce pulses of divine energy throbbing through Cassius’s soul core.

Hang on a little bit longer!
