It was enough for Cassius to counter his attack and for Theo and Morgan to make their move.

Dazzling radiance blinded Atropos. She slowed and squinted, hand rising to shield her eyes. Her breath stuttered at what she glimpsed through the gaps between her fingers.

Theo grabbed Elios by the throat and pierced his chest with the Spear of Light, his eyes radiating golden beams of fury. Cassius wrenched Elios’s fingers from his flesh and immobilized the arm that sought to destroy his core, his brow furrowed in an almighty scowl.

Morgan cleaved Elios’s hand from his body with the Sword of Wind and a sound of pure wrath.

Atropos blinked, stunned.H—how?! Elios is made of darkness! Ivmir should not have been able to cut him!

Elios froze. Incomprehension widened his inky eyes.

Atropos felt a moment’s pity for the brother she could never love.

He flinched at the sound of his amputated appendage striking the ground. The pool of lava it had fallen into hissed and bubbled as it consumed his flesh.

“He’s getting away!” Eden warned.

Theo cursed as Elios exploded into a million black strands in his grip.

“I will kill you,” the God of Darkness railed in a voice that shook with rage. “I WILL KILL YOU ALL!”

He vanished into nothingness, his words fading to an ominous whisper that would haunt Atropos for days to come.

“This place is smallerthan I thought it would be,” Clotho remarked.

She dropped down on the couch in Cassius’s living room, her hair still damp from the shower. The clothes he had loaned her hung loosely on her slender figure.

“That’s exactly what I said!” Kes exclaimed.

“The door’s right there,” Morgan snapped as he came over from the kitchen.

“You tell them,” Victor grumbled.

Cassius swallowed a smile. Morgan sat next to him and handed him a coffee, still muttering under his breath. Seeing Morgan and Victor interact with their sisters was proving to be more fun than he’d thought it would be. Judging by the amused expression Theo was struggling to mask, he thought the same.

Eden yawned where she sat on the floor. She leaned against Cedric, a contented expression on her face. The Dryad prince had been waiting for them at Cassius’s place when they’d returned to Earth.

“How are things in Ivory Peaks?” Morgan had asked him worriedly.

“They’re getting better by the day,” Cedric had replied.

His gaze had darted apprehensively to the Goddesses exploring the apartment with open curiosity. Though he hadn’t yet been formally introduced to them, he’d recognized Alecto and Megaera as the ones who’d attacked the Dryad realm despite their gracious appearance.

“Eden is a powerful Magus,” Lachesis had told Cassius quietly while Eden hugged her fiancé so hard she almost broke his ribs. “She will be an incredible asset in the war to come.”

“I know,” Cassius had replied with a faint smile.

What Eden had achieved during the battle they had fought in the Seventh Purgatory was nothing short of a miracle, even more so since she was human.

The devilwood staff made the right choice in selecting her as its rightful wielder over Lucille Hartman.Cassius had glanced at Atropos at that thought. Then again, she’s the one who brought them together.

Someone knocked on the door.

“I’ll get it.” Morgan rose and went over to the entrance. “Did someone order pizza?” he called suspiciously down the hallway a moment later.

Orena brightened. “Yes.”
