“Oh, okay. What is it?”
“I got Tyler here on the phone, and he wanted to know if I wanted to go out, grab a couple of beers, and maybe play some darts. And I was just checking with you, how long you think you’d be writing?”
“Oh, you can go.” she says. “Have fun.”
“What?” I stare at her in amusement.
“Have fun.”
“You’re gonna let me go out with Tyler? The most famous hockey player in the country, and have drinks? You know there will be women swarming us.”
“I trust you. And you literally just told me, I’m your soul mate, the love of your life.” she shrugs. “I’m okay.”
“Okay, wow.” I stare at her in surprise. “I just thought--”
“You thought I’d be super jealous and be like, no, you can’t go.?”
“I mean, I don’t know that I’d let you go.” I say, laughing.
“You wouldn’tletme anything.” she says. “And it’s not up to you to tell me what to do, just like it’s not up to me to tell you what to do.”
“I know, but I’m just trying to be respectful of your feelings, and--”
“I know, and I love you for it, Wes. I love you so much, but have fun. And maybe Erica and I will join you later.”
“Really?” I say staring at her. “Erica and Tyler in the same room? She hates him.”
“She does. But that doesn’t mean she might not want to go out and meet some other hotties.” she winks at me. “Now go and have fun.”
“I love you so much, my darling.”
“I love you too.” She blows me a kiss and I pretend to catch it. I cannot wait to grow old with Sabrina. She is the light of my entire life.
