“Sleep it off, little Siren. Your heart will feel better in the morning.”
CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
Viking
Ienter the room andwait a beat for my eyes to adjust to the dimness. A single naked bulb hangs from the ceiling. It buzzes and hums quietly, the perfect accompaniment to Lana’s terrified whimpers.
“P-please don’t hurt me. Please, just let me go. I won’t even look in her direction again. I promise.”
The door behind me opens and Niko enters. “You’re really gonna kill Lana over this underage pussy that you’re not even hitting?”
“Arie’s under my protection. This cum-guzzling slut should have known better.”
“Come on, Vike. She’s new here, came from that fucked up cathedral. There were no laws there beyond whatever Luca and his asshole father told them to do. You know that.”
“She tried to drown Arie in cheap vodka. If I hadn’t stopped her—”
“I-I won’t touch her again. I swear, just let me go.” Her incessant whining is getting on my last fucking nerve.
“Shut up, bitch.”
“Viking, please, please?”
I unsheathe my knife and fling it across the room. It sinks into her forearm, the hilt bobbing precariously. Lana screams and I pinch the bridge of my nose, swallowing back a sigh.
“Look what you made me do,” I say to Niko.
He chuckles and shakes his head. “You make a mess in my house, you take out the trash afterward.”
“At least that way I know she’ll be fuckin’ dead. By the way, are the pipes in this building copper or plastic?”
“Plastic. We had some plumbing issues. This room was just renovated.” He frowns. “Why?”
“You’ll see, brother.”
Lana’s wails reach an all-time high, and I roll my eyes.
