Page 28 of Cove City: Vol. I

When I pulled up to Z’s, her door was open. I didn’t see Chevy’s bike, so I knew he wasn’t here, and I immediately gotscared, rushing inside. However, once I stepped into the large living room, all heads turned my way. “Girl, you ok?” Harvey asked.

I put my hand over my chest, “Shit, I saw the door opened and thought something was wrong.”

Yana burst out laughing. “Chevy and Zaria got people delivering shit for the block party.”

I noticed more people in the living room than usual, and they stared at me awkwardly. Zaria came from the kitchen with a tray of drinks. “Hey, Sash! We were waiting on you!”

“Yes, now a bitch can drink because me and Preach are going through it and I need to vent,” Navi whined.

I was surprised to hear that because she and Preach seemed so happy. It honestly felt good not to be the only one going through something like this. I walked around and sat beside her, “I hear you, girl,” I mumbled.

Zaria bent down, placed the tray on the table, and stood. She was glowing so beautifully. Her half brown knitted top sat right on her growing belly, and her boho-style skirt sat right under. Yana looked as if she was ready to pop, and a part of me felt jealous. My hand slowly eased across my stomach as I thought about the baby I had once carried in my stomach. Zaria clapped her hands as she smiled brightly. “Ok, ladies, we have some new people with us. I thought it was only right that we all get along so we can show our men, and they can also.”

“Bitch, we’re talking about Chevy, he doesn’t like anybody but you.”

We all started to laugh at Yana’s statement because it was true. Zaria cut her eyes at her sister. “He can be tough, but my husband is a man who has been through trials. Deep down, he’s a lover, and I love him, flaws and all.”

“You love the dick is what you love,” Navi jumped in.

She shrugged. “And that too.”

Her eyes wander off as she probably thought about some nasty things they did before we arrived. Zaria snapped back to reality. “Ok, so I invited Chevy’s sisters. I think it’s only right we all get to know each other since they are a part of the family.”

I turned to look at the twin girls. One seemed calm, but the other had a bit of an attitude. The calmer one stood. “I’m Indigo. I am the girlfriend of my newfound brother’s enemy, and this is—”

“Indi, you don’t speak for me. I’m Tania,” she said dryly and sat back down.

I could tell she would be a problem; lucky for me, I didn’t have to deal with it. I had only saw the twins a few times around the Cove after Bishop went through that shit with his family. Pierre tried to explain the situation, but I wasn’t in the right headspace to listen. Harvey turned on some music, and we all began to chit-chat. As my eyes scanned around, I was drawn to the living room's entrance when I spotted the girl who had been with Pierre the other night.

She stood there, glancing at all of us. I quickly began to move toward her, but when I saw Zaria, my eyes widened.

Click, click!

“You better have a good fucking reason you’re waltzing your ass in my house,” Zaria gritted, holding the choppa to the girl’s back.

“Whoa!Zaria, girl. You have been dealing with Chevy for too long. Put it down,” I told her.

The girl held her hands in the air nervously. That’s when Indigo came over, “I remember you from the store. I think she’s fine. She’s like some reporter.”

“I don’t give a fuck who she is. I’m pregnant, hormonal, and I don’t trust none of you Cove bitches!”

Harvey walked over to Zaria, “Put it down, girl.”

Zaria took a deep breath, easing the gun down. “Why are you walking into someone’s house like that?”

The girl turned to her, “I tried knocking, but the music was so loud. I’m sorry.”

Navi hissed at her. “Girl, what the fuck do you want?”

Her eyes landed on me. That’s when I realized she came here for me. “What’s your name?” I asked.

“Tuesday.”

“It was about to be Sunday because you were about to meet God,” Yana added.

I could hear the girl’s snicker. “Why are you here?” Zaria asked her.

I could see her admiration for what we were doing. She was intrigued that a group of women had come together and had a good time without all the back-and-forth. It was the same look I had when I first met the women of the Zoo men. Zaria and I glanced at each other. She slowly nodded at me. “Come on, have a drink with us,” Zaria invited her in.
