I sparked my blunt up and continued to smoke while trying not to think about Tuesday.

“Sup nigga!” Quinton called out from across the street.

He jogged over and dapped me up.

“Sup.”

He stared at me curiously, “You want to talk about it?”

I laughed. “Nigga since when you wanted to hear about my problems?”

“Since they used to tease your black ass back in school calling you ugly.”

“But a nigga fine now,” I retorted.

We both laughed. I knew I needed to find Keith to get out of here. “Those Zoo niggas gone?”

“Yeah, you going back there?”

“Yeah. I need to find Keith. I told Bleek I would take him to Bop.”

I flicked the blunt into the street as Quinton and I began walking back toward the block party. I hadn’t realized how late it was. By the time we reached the block, everything had been cleaned up. The streets that were filled with people were now empty. The surrounding businesses had closed up and the quiet street slept. “Damn did the nigga get a ride?”

“Shit, maybe,” Quinton responded.

I pulled my phone out to call Bishop to see if Keith had made it home, but he didn’t answer. I saw Quinton walking off, “Nigga where you going?”

He said nothing as he continued to move up the street. My phone vibrated, and it was Bishop. I stopped walking to answer. “Yo Bop!”

“Sup nigga?”

“Shit, I was trying to see if Keith made it home. I don’t see this little nigga.”

“Nah, he’s not here. That nigga probably doing some shit he don’t got no business. Let me call him, give me a second.”

“Bet.”

I glanced back up the street and started making my way up. That’s when I spotted him. “Ayo Keith!” I yelled.

He waved me off. “The fuck?” I muttered.

I jogged up the street to where he was talking to a group of young niggas. “Nigga bring yo ass on.”

“Man, P I’m chilling a nigga is grown.”

This nigga was horrible. I shook my head. His phone vibrated and he checked it, then looked at me. I started nodding my head, “Yeah little nigga. Now come on.”

Keith finished with his friends and began following me. We got halfway up the block by Zaria’s Place. “Hold on P. I got to piss.”

Keith jogged on the side of the building while I waited in front. I spotted a couple casually walking down the street holding hands. A grin eased on my face because I began thinking about me and Tuesday doing some shit like that. Suddenly, I spotted Keith running from the back.

“That shit on fire!” he yelled.

I turned to see the plants inside ablaze. My eyes widened. “Let’s fucking go!” I yelled as I hauled ass back toward my car.

When I turned, Keith wasn’t behind me. I thought I saw him running back toward the fire. “Fuck!”

Quinton was slowly jogging up the block, coming toward me. “Let’s get the fuck out of here!” he yelled at me.
