“To see you. You know you’re my girl.”
Her body stilled. “That ship has sailed.”
“Nah, baby, it hasn’t. I missed you.”
“Pierre, please.”
She had never acted like this before so, for her to act like I was a nobody pissed me off. I dropped my head before raising it toward her. I sucked my teeth then ran my tongue over my grills. “Sash, we have unfinished business. You walked away without giving me a chance. You know how I feel about you. Now you done took your ass to the west coast hopped on new dick and I’m supposed to be ok with it?”
I moved closer to her. I knew her soft spot. That nigga didn’t know her like I did.Closer.I knew every inch of her body.Closer.I knew what made her smile, what made her cry.Closer.Sash was my fucking prize.
I was now in her space, so close she had nowhere to run. I towered over her and placed my hand to the side of her face, stroking her hair. Her perfume invaded my nose. Her skin was still soft. My thumb caressed her cheek. “I fucking missed you. You need to lose that nigga Sash. You already know the type of time I’m on. I’ve killed niggas for less so to know that hoe nigga had a taste of that pussy only makes me—”
The feeling of cold steel to the back of my neck stopped me.
“Only make you what nigga? Huh? I’ve been waiting to meet your ugly ass.” The nigga behind me gritted.
Sash moved around me, “Zeus, baby—”
“Nah ain’t no Zeus. Freckles, I’m about to blow the back of this nigga head out.”
I slowly turned around so I could be face to face with the nigga that stole my girl’s heart. The barrel of the gun went from the back of my neck to my mouth. He was just a little shorter than I. Big nigga, dreads, rough looking. Did he pump fear in me, fuck no. The way we eyed each other, I knew it could only be one of us standing.
“They say the price of gold has gone up. Let me blow yo shit open so I can cash them teeth in bitch nigga!”
I looked over his shoulder at Sasha, then back at him. I nodded slowly. “I’ll be around,” I said as I approached the door.
Bloaw!
The bullet whistled past my head at the door. I didn’t even jump because I knew the nigga was going to shoot.
“Next one going through your head hoe nigga!” he barked.
I walked out of Sasha shop hot as fuck. I wanted that nigga gone. That fake ass Greek God was a Deadman walking.
Pierre’s appearance in my shop only confirmed that Soho had been running his mouth. Seeing him after all these months felt different. The spark I used to see in his eyes was no longer there. He and I had been through a lot in our two years together. I thought that he was my forever person; it just made sense at the time. I’d shared not only my past with him but my body in a way I hadn’t even let Zeus have access to. However, I was happy with Zeus; he understood me. It was as if Zeus and I were searching for the same thing in each other.
When he told me he was moving to Toussaint, I knew his being around wouldn’t be a cakewalk. Pierre was right, he had killed niggas for less, but what he didn’t understand was the man he was challenging wouldn’t think twice about putting a bullet in his head. Pierre was creating a war that didn’t need to be there, but I knew the cause was his cousin, Soho. I needed to stop Soho before he ended up causing more harm than good. It was going to be up to me to stop him. He was someone I vouched for and here he was fucking everything up. There was no way Chevy or Zeus would allow him to be a part of the crew if they knew he was related to Pierre.
Zeus turned toward me after Pierre left. His face had anger in it. I wasn’t sure what to say, but I needed him to calm down. I went to place my hand to his face, and he pulled away like I was some sort of disease and that shit hurt.
I could feel the wrinkles in my head form from confusion, “Why are you acting like that?”
“Why the fuck was that nigga here? Is this what we’re doing, Freckles? Let me know now.”
“Zeus, I didn’t know he was coming here. You need to relax.”
“Relax my ass. I’m not about to be running around this muhfucka chasing that nigga off. The nigga got to die.”
“I told him there was no us. Zeus, you two can co-exist in the same world. You should know my focus is on you.”
He waved me off, letting out a hysterical laugh. “You really think this shit is a game? I know niggas like him. That bitch nigga hooked, I know because I am. There is no co-existing Sasha! Period!”
When he called me Sasha, I knew he was mad. “So, what you’re going to kill any nigga that approach me? Huh? Zeus, I know how to turn niggas down. You need to grow the fuck up, be the bigger person.”
Clap! Clap!
He clapped so hard and loud that it scared the hell out of me. “Baby, you just don’t get it. Since you know it all fine. I’ll tell you this, and I’m only saying it once. Ain’t no nigga like me. Big facts. If I catch the nigga around again, I’m going to kill him then drop yo ass. So, you better handle that shit because I told you before I got here to squash whatever the fuck you got going on.”
