“We are…electric.”
Yes we were. “Seth,” I sighed.
His gaze dropped to my lips. He traced them with his thumb, watching the entire time. “You’re addicting. I love your sounds. Your sighs. The way you blush.”
I felt him swell against my hip. Just talking about it aroused him, same as me. I ached but I also yearned. My body needed time to recover and yet I wanted more.
“Breakfast,” he murmured, kissing me behind the ear, then sucking at my pulse. “I need to feed you.” His hands skimmed down my body, over my hips, squeezing before letting me go.
I reached for him, snagging his t-shirt in my fist, and pulled him back for one last solid kiss. “I needed that.”
“I aim to please.” Then with a wink he moved to the kitchen, pulling out pans and spatulas before opening the fridge, covering the counter in ingredients. “It’s not the middle of the night but I thought I might spoil you with the food we’ll be missing for the foreseeable future. Would you like chocolate chips in your pancakes?”

ANNALISE
“There you are,” Jeri teased as she came up beside me. “The internet is alive with speculation that you’ve moved into Butler’s bachelor pad.”
“Just for one night. He has a lot of security.”
She arched an eyebrow. “Right. And where did you sleep? The guest room?”
I kept my eyes trained on the baseball field. Batting practice had given way to fielding. Pretty soon they’d disappear to change. Today I watched it all. I hadn’t done that since Rhett’s early years with the team. “I did not.”
“Oh? Did Butler take the guest room?”
There was absolutely no reason to keep the truth from Jeri. Not only was she my best friend, and a huge fan of our relationship, but she was a bloodhound. “Nope. Same bed.”
She mock-gasped, her hand over her mouth. “Is your dry spell finally over?”
“Yep.” Memories of how careful he’d been mixed with how carnally we finished flashed through my mind. Seth was sexy for a lot of reasons, but right at the top was the way he claimed me.
We’d come together tentatively at first, but he enthusiastically notched things up each time I asked. And then when we each lost our tethers on reality, the raw, uncontrolled need came through.
My body would get used to being used again and things would get easier. It just took a little time. Seth was more than up for the task.
“Good?” she drawled.
“Very.” Seth jogged towards the dugout, looking up until he found me. Then I got a sexy wink before he ducked inside.
“Oh damn. He’s got it bad! And so do you!” Jeri bounced and clapped.
“It was one night.” But I knew it was more than that. I felt it in my soul. Something had shifted.
“Bullshit. I called this from day one.”
I finally pulled my gaze from the field and turned to face my friend. “Called what, exactly?”
“You and Butler are endgame.” She shrugged.
“How can you possibly know that?” And, more importantly, why did I want her to be right?
It was too soon to think things like that, right? It took time to get to know someone, to know if you had what it took to still like each other in twenty or forty years.
I didn’t even know who broke his heart. It was a big deal that he’d told me anything. I appreciated the step. But now I was greedy. I wanted the whole story.
“Well, I’ve been your friend for what, eight years now?”
