“Hey, Abs,” Riley hollers from the kitchen. “Do you want your spices in the pantry or the cupboard by the stove?”

“You know I barely cook, Riley. Ask Jake,” I yell back as I finish making the bed in our bedroom. They’ve stuck me with delicate tasks like folding towels and making beds, and adding toilet paper to the rolls. It’s ridiculous, but they are all overly protective. I’m slowly learning to live with it. Liam and Jake are putting together the entertainment stand and the bookshelves that will line one wall in the living room; all we are waiting for is the sofa and the dining table. They’ll be delivered tomorrow. Everything’s coming together.

At our ultrasound appointment, I can tell Jake is nervous. His leg is bouncing up and down at an alarming speed as the doctor steps out of the room so I can change into a gown.

“Are you okay?” I put my hand on his shoulder.

“Yeah, just nervous. And excited. I can’t believe we finally get to find out!” I press a kiss to his temple and pull off my loose sundress before slipping into the stiff medical gown. Jake helps me back onto the bed, and a moment later, Doctor O returns.

“Are you both ready to find out what you’re having?” she asks cheerfully as she drapes a blanket across my lap.

“Absolutely,” I say and grip Jake’s hand. She tugs the grown up, exposing my belly.

“This is going to be a bit cold, sorry.” She squirts some gel onto my skin, and I hiss at the sudden chill. She places the ultrasound wand against my belly, moving it slowly as a grainy image appears on the screen. I steady beat sounds into the room… Our baby’s heartbeat. I squeeze Jake’s hand even harder, feeling my eyes burn with impending tears.

“Ah,” says Doctor O. “There it is. You see here.” She points at a spot on the screen. Little bumps are hard to make out, but she traces her finger around and explains further. “This is the eyes and the nose… And this is the mouth.” She continues to move the wand around for another couple of minutes before she clicks a button to save a photo of what’s on the screen. “Congratulations,” she grins at me. “You’re having a girl.” I hear a sniffle and look at Jake. A tear rolls down his cheek, and he leans in and kisses me before sliding off the chair and onto his knees.

“Jake? What are you–”

He pulls a black velvet box from his pocket, and I freeze.

“Abby,” he swallows hard and looks into my eyes. “God, Abs. I love you so much. Will you marry me?” My throat feels tight, and tears spill down my cheeks.

“Yes! I love you too.” Jake slips a gorgeous diamond ring on my shaking finger as I lay there, belly covered in gel and our daughter’s image on the screen.

When we get home, Jake takes me by the hand and leads me into our new bedroom. He kisses me gently and guides me down onto my side, and lays down behind me, stroking over my baby bump and pressing kisses to the back of my neck.

“I love you, baby,” he whispers between kisses before reaching down and lifting my dress. He helps me slip out of the yellow fabric and tosses it to the floor, and then his questing fingers brush over my wet entrance. I moan and thrust my hips; he doesn’t take the hint to go faster, though, and continues his slow exploration of my folds. I shiver and try to spread my legs a bit wider, it’s awkward on my side, but he grabs my legs and hikes them up over his, giving him better access. He teases me to the edge over and over again beforefinallypulling his cock out and sliding inside of me.

“Yes,” I pant out and reach back to hold his head to my neck, where he continues to lay kisses to my sensitive skin. He rocks into me at a slow and steady pace, building my orgasm to a shaking, intense peak. I shudder and clench around him, and he pushes into me twice more before finding his pleasure.

We decided to have a small wedding a couple of weeks later in our backyard with only family and close friends. Rose petals map out an aisle along the grass, and folding chairs are set up on either side for our families. This is my first time meeting his family and his first time meeting my other sisters and my mother. I’m so happy that everyone seems to get along great. However, that shouldn’t surprise me. I think Jake gets along with everyone.

The ceremony goes off without a hitch; looking into his teary blue eyes while we say our vows is a moment I’ll treasure for the rest of our lives.

My lovely sisters decide to turn our reception into a hybrid baby shower and surprise us at the last minute. After we eat dinner and cut the cake, they usher us into the house where dozens of gifts are hiding out in the den. They pile them into the main living room, and we receive every gift we can imagine for both our new home and the baby.

Jake

Iam a little intimidated and a lot awed by all of the strong women in Abby’s family, and grateful our daughter has many wonderful women to look up to. They all welcomed me into the family at the wedding with open arms, and I still can’t believe this is real.

After the reception turned baby shower, Abby and I grabbed an overnight bag. Our families pitched in and rented a suite at the Ritz for our honeymoon. Even though we can’t take a trip right now, I still want Abby to have the best wedding night that I can give her.

I help Abby into the car, and we drive off, leaving her sisters to handle cleaning up at their insistence. It’s only about a twenty-minute drive, but Abby dozes off, and I let her get some much-needed rest, only waking her when I pull up to the valet station. We check-in quickly and head up to our room.

“Oh wow,” Abby says in wide-eyed wonder. “This is huge!” She wanders in to explore, leaving me to get our bag. “Jake! This tub is big enough for both of us! And they left us chocolates!”

I chuckle and head to the bathroom after setting our bag at the end of the king-sized bed. The room is decorated in shades of cream and gold and is every bit as opulent as you would expect from a five-star hotel.

Abby is already halfway out of her clothes, with the tub filling when I get in there. I press a kiss to her shoulder and go back to grab the robes and slippers I saw hanging in the closet before I shed my clothes and join her.
