“I’m fine now that you’re here,” I interrupt. “Thank you for coming. I don’t know how you got here, but I’m thankful.” I bury my face in his neck and inhale his manly scent, making my heart rate slow.
“I’ll always come to you.” He kisses my hair.
Pulling back, I look down at his concerned face. Is it possible to love him after only knowing him a few days? I’ve heard when two people are in traumatic situations together it can create an unbreakable bond. Is that what this is? Will it fade? Or is it something more?
Leaning down to kiss him, our lips almost touch when the alarm starts to go off. Looking over at the panel I realize I didn’t turn off the alarm before I opened the front door. Hopping down, I enter the code and laugh. One minute I was scared and crying, and the next I was so excited I lost my mind.
“What are you laughing at?” Bodhi smiles at me flashing his white teeth.
Draping my arms over his shoulders, I grin up at him. “I was so excited when you arrived, I forgot to disable the system.” I shake my head still smiling. “You do that to me. Make me lose my mind because I’m so happy and I know you’ll always protect me.”
“Always.” He cups my cheek, brushing his lips to mine.
“Let me reward you for coming to my rescue, Mr. Rivers. I’ve been dying to have your cock in my mouth all day.”
Bodhi moans, and his Caribbean blue eyes darken into a raging sea. Tangling his fingers in the long waves of my hair, he pushes me down to my knees turning me on further. I had no idea he had this domineering side to him.
Scratching my nails down his chest, I pull his shorts and boxer briefs down letting them puddle at his feet. His erection springs free and bobs in all its glory, saluting me. My mouth salivates at how hard he is, knowing it’s for me. Wrapping my hand around the base, I suck on the tip and swirl my tongue tasting his salty goodness.
“Oh God,” he groans throwing his head back against the wall and squeezes his eyes shut.
I smile around his length and close my eyes as I start to bob up and down when I feel a sharp tug on my hair. My eyes fly open as I’m hauled off my knees, but not by Bodhi. His face is one of terror as he looks over my shoulder. That’s when I feel cold metal to my temple.
“Oh God is right. You never got on your knees so easily when we were together,” a familiar voice sneers from behind me. “And now you’ve got this…this vagrant in your bed when you could have me.”
“Is that why you’re doing this?” I ask calmly even as tears stream down my cheeks.
He yanks on my hair making me cry out as my scalp burns like it’s on fire. Tilting my head to the side, I feel Dwayne’s hot rancid breath against my neck making me want to throw up. “I don’t give a shit about him. It only shows how far you’ve sunk since you moved out of your parents’ house.”
“Don’t you dare talk about them,” I spit. He was the one who persuaded me to move out so we could have more time alone. Alone time we never had because he was always too busy for me.
“Coco, don’t antagonize him.” Bodhi shakes his head with wide, scared eyes, taking a step closer.
“Don’t fucking move,” Dwayne barks, pulling me flush against him and digging the barrel of the gun into my temple. “If you want her to live, you’ll stay right where you are.” He laughs maniacally, making the gun jostle and scratch against my skin. “And pull your fucking pants up. I don’t want to see your fucking cock.”
I hadn’t realized Bodhi still had his pants down. My eyes had been locked on his terrified face and praying we’d find some way out of this alive.
“Why are you doing this?” I ask again hoping to get him to talk. I want answers, but I also want him to be distracted so I can get out of his grasp. I look at the alarm panel. It’s so close yet so far away. There’s no way Bodhi or I can hit the panic button easily without the possibility of being shot.
“Move!” he barks at Bodhi and points the gun at him. He waits until Bodhi is in front of us before he pulls me along by my hair as he herds us through the house. “Why couldn’t you have talked to me when I showed up at your work or your apartment? No,” he draws the word out mockingly. “You thought you were too good for me.” He growls the last word and nips the shell of my ear.
“You were the one who never had time for me,” I squeak out as he tugs a little too hard on my already sensitive scalp. I don’t mention how he continually belittled me and made me feel worthless for most of our relationship. That’s why it never made sense why he showed up all of a sudden wanting me to take him back. Whatever happened, Dwayne has lost his mind.
“Why would I have time for a little brat? You pushed away all your friends and family so you could work in a barbershop.”
Those women were never my friends, they only wanted me in their social circle to look good. If they couldn’t understand that I didn’t want to spend all my time organizing fundraisers and having lunch to gossip, they were no friend of mine. And every single one of them dropped me like a hissing snake the moment I started working at Tricks. They sneered at me when they didn’t think I was looking on the few occasions my parents broke me down to attend one of their fundraisers.
Still, Dwayne isn’t making sense.
Wrapping my long hair around his fist even tighter, Dwayne stalks into the kitchen with the gun still pointed at Bodhi. “Sit and don’t even think about moving or I’ll make you watch her die before I torture and kill you.”
Nodding, Bodhi stumbles onto one of the island stools and takes a shaky breath. His eyes say a thousand words but the thing they’re saying most is don’t die. I can’t live without you.
Does he really think Dwayne will kill both of us or just me?
The gun in his steady hand screams death.
“Where’s the hard stuff?” Dwayne slams the refrigerator door closed and spins around ripping some of my hair out in the process. I don’t cry out, not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
