Chapter Five

DANTE

My night with Lily was the best sleep of my life and I knew two things when I woke up. First, I needed her in my bed every night for the rest of my life and second, after one date, I was falling in love with her. Reaching out to feel the woman who had me under her spell, I found the other side of the bed cold. How long had Lily been up? Had I been snoring? Did she regret asking me to stay?

Bright light shined in through her windows making it difficult for me to open my eyes. At my loft, I kept it dark so I could sleep in after being up late into the night. Last night I was too enthralled with Lily to look around her space. Now I looked around the room with a smile on my face. Her room was large. It had probably been two rooms at some point. It was warm and inviting as the sun came through her windows that took up one wall and overlooked a large yard that spanned into a dense forest. Decorated in shades of gray and green it was not overly feminine and yet reflected her warm and inviting personality.

Wanting to find Lily, I quickly found my jeans and pulled them on before heading downstairs. The instant I opened the bedroom door, I smelled something delicious. I couldn’t remember the last time I ate anything at home. Although I loved to cook, I didn’t have time for it, and I hated cooking for one.

I hit the landing and could hear someone singing. Was it Lily? She sounded so amazing; she could be a singer instead of a writer. As I stepped off the last stair, I looked around. I had been tooeverythinglast night to take in my surroundings as we passed through with our bodies tangled. If I didn’t get a handle on losing myself in her, it could become a problem. I noticed how the house was older but had been updated recently. Again, one side of the house was all windows and sliding glass doors giving way to the view outside. The downstairs was filled with a mix of traditional and modern furniture that was easy to see Lily had her hand in picking out every piece. Everything about her house was as welcoming as the owner.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I walked into the kitchen. Lily was swaying her sexy ass along to the melody with only my shirt from last night on. Every once in a while, she bopped to the beat and my shirt rode up giving me a peek at the swell of her perfect ass. I couldn’t contain the growl that emanated deep from within me.

When she leaned down to get something out of the oven and her shirt rode up displaying her ass, I couldn’t stop myself from moving toward her and wrapping my arms around her.

“Oh, you scared me,” she squeaked out, only then to wrap her hands over my arms. Looking over her shoulder at me, she smiled, and it lit up her face. “Good morning. How did you sleep?”

“Good morning, my siren,” I kissed her nose. “I can’t remember the last time I slept so well or so long. You might just be the cure to my insomnia.” Her smile brightened even more. “You like the idea of being my cure?”

“I do.” She wrapped her arms around my neck and pressed her tits into my chest. I could feel how hard her nipples were, making my dick twitch. “But that’s not why I was smiling. I like you calling me your siren. It makes me feel…sexy.”

“You’re more than sexy, Lily. You’re every adjective defining beauty.”

Leaning up she kissed me sweetly. “Are you ready for breakfast?”

“More than ready. It smells divine.” I peeked around her to see the pan she had been getting out of the oven and found the biggest cinnamon rolls I’d ever seen. “Are those homemade?”

“Is there any other way?”

Pillsbury?

“Grab what you want. I’ve got some bacon over there too.” She pointed to a plate with a paper towel covering a mountain of bacon. My stomach growled at the sight. “Let me grab the orange juice. Help yourself to the coffee.”

I filled my plate with cinnamon rolls and bacon and dug in. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw she wasn’t shying away from carbs like most women did. I thought last night might have been a fluke.

“This is amazing,” I moaned around a bite of cinnamon roll. “You’re amazing.”

Lily blushed and bit off a piece of bacon.

I could tell by the way she blushed every time I gave her a compliment, she didn’t see herself the way I did, and hated it. Eventually, she’d get used to the praise because I meant every word of it, and I planned to tell her often. She needed to know how special she was.

“After last night and then this morning, I don’t know what I did in a previous life to deserve you, but I’m thankful.”

After taking a sip of coffee, she ducked behind her cup. “I think you’ve got it the other way around. All I did was cook you breakfast. You…last night…” She sighed and scanned my face; for what, I wasn’t sure, but I thought she found what she was looking for. “I want to be honest with you.”

“Good, because I hate liars.”

“We’ll hit on that later. I don’t like liars either, but sometimes it’s best not to be too forward right away and scare someone off.”

I thought I saw where this was going.

“Lily,” I placed my hand over hers on the kitchen table. “You’re not going to scare me off. I promise.”

“We’ll see about that,” she laughed nervously. “Last night…I’ve never felt that way before with anyone in my life.”

“It was perfection.” She nodded. “The best night of my life.” She nodded again. “I haven’t felt this way about anyone either and I have to be honest with you, it’s a little scary. It truly is like you’ve got me under some spell. My own personal siren. I’ve never been this tongue-tied idiot before. There’s more…”

“Please continue,” she said softly. Her eyes implored me to spill my secrets.
