“I was feeling it. That’s why I said we have plenty of time. Now tell me who the car belongs to.”

“Catherine, the boner killer.” He said it in such a pained way, I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Let’s see what she wants, and maybe you’ll still get your happy ending to the day.”

“Really?” he asked, hopefully. It was cute how easily he perked up.

“We probably shouldn’t leave her waiting much longer.” I didn’t know if Catherine was here to see Jenner or me, but if she showed up without calling, it couldn’t be good.

Stepping out of the car, she was waiting at the opening of the garage with her hands on her hips and a deep frown on her face.

“Catherine, so good to see you. What a surprise.” I put on my best smile as I opened the door that led into the house and waited until she stepped inside before I followed. Turning to look over my shoulder, Jenner sat on the hood of the SUV with his eyes trained on my ass. “Stop looking at my ass and get in here.”

Walking inside, I found Catherine sitting in one of the leather chairs and was about to take the one across from her when Jenner wrapped an arm around my waist and brought me over to the couch catty-corner from her. Pulling me close, he threw his arm around my shoulders and let his hand dangle. Every few seconds, a finger would brush against my breast, shooting tingles down to my core.

With raised brows, she crossed her legs and looked at us expectantly. When we all continued to stare at each other, Catherine rolled her lips before she spoke. “Is there anything you want to tell me?”

“Um . . . ” I wasn’t sure if it was appropriate to tell her we were going to try a relationship when we weren’t even twenty-four hours in, and we’d fought multiple times already.

“I was going to call you once we got home, and as you can see, we just got here.” He gave my shoulder a squeeze, causing me to smile over at him.

Tapping her fingernail on the chair arm, Catherine asked. “Where have you been?”

“I took Abbi out to eat. It was a late lunch, early dinner. Shit,” he jumped up. “I forgot the leftovers in the car. I’ll be right back.” Jenner sprinted out of the room.

“Does he seriously think he can avoid me forever?”

“He’s not, I promise. He ordered a huge amount of food, and it was too good to go to waste.”

“She’s right,” Jenner interjected as he walked in and placed the food in the refrigerator. “I really was going to call you, but we were having a bonding moment.”

He sat back down next to me. Closer than ever. I was surprised he didn’t pull me on his lap and grind up against me.

“I can see that. While I’m happy you two are getting . . . along, I’m here because there are rumors you were fired from Alpha Blue after a huge blow-up.”

“Not true,” Jenner said at the same time I called out, “They’re lying.”

“And you know this how, Abbi?” She rose her eyebrows again. Her lips had thinned out, causing me to sweat. Damn, she was intimidating.

“I went with Jenner this morning. We’ve spent almost every minute together today, so I know there was no blow up. I was there when Jane told him, actually, and it’s the most ridiculous thing ever. The whole cast thinks he’s cursed.”

I felt Jenner’s body shake next to me. “No one feels safe with me on the set, and Jane promised she would make sure Rick didn’t talk to anyone calling about a recommendation.”

“Okay, I’m going to call Jane and ask for them to make a statement approved by me. We can’t let people think you went ballistic. You won’t get your movie if they think you’ve been acting up again.”

“Sounds perfect.” Jenner jumped up again. “If that’s all, we have some things to attend to before we go to bed.”

Catherine rolled her eyes with a grin on her face. “I’m happy to see the both of you are getting along. I guess it won’t be hard to do your weekly mandated dates out in public.”

“We had our first one today,” Jenner proudly announced. “And now that I’ll have more free time—”

“Let me stop your right there,” Catherine interrupted him. “You seem to have forgotten Abbi works for me and will be at the office bright and early on Monday morning.”

Jenner’s face fell as he crossed his arms over his chest. It was sweet he wanted to spend more time with me, but if we were together twenty-four-seven, he would get tired of me.

Standing, I went to him and placed my hands on his bulging biceps. “But I will be coming home every night. Maybe you can cook dinner while I’m at work.” I smiled at my joke. The only food he would be producing was by calling it in. Even with having to go to work, I could throw some ingredients in a crockpot before I left in the morning, and we’d have something to eat when I got home.

“Maybe Abbi can work from home for the foreseeable future?” he asked hopefully. “I don’t think she’s ready to be driving with the paparazzi on her tail yet.”
