“Lexie wasn’t kidding when she said this place is romantic. We got here just in time. The sun will be setting soon.” I might squeal a little. I’ve never watched the sunset with a guy.Myguy. Warmth floods my body, and I realize how much I’ve fallen for Kade in the short amount of time we’ve been together.

Turning in his arms, I throw my arms around his neck as my eyes get glassy. “I’m so glad you’re here with me.”

“Me too, Rainbow.”

“Um…” a feminine voice clears her throat. “Do you want a table?”

I try to jump back, embarrassed at getting caught, but Kade holds me to his side. The hostess is tall with long dark hair with beautiful olive skin, and she’s looking at Kade like he’s her dinner. I don’t blame her because he’s what I’m going to have for dessert, but she shouldn’t be doing it with me attached to him. “As private as possible,” he answers her.

“I’ll see what I can do,” she says over her shoulder, swaying her butt in our faces.

“It’s like I’m not even here,” I mutter as we follow the hostess.

I feel Kade lean down. “What are you talking about?”

“The way she’s looking at you. It’s like I’m not by your side,” I say out of the side of my mouth.

“Well, if you want, I can sweep you off your feet, dip you like in the old Hollywood movies, and plant the biggest kiss she’s ever seen if it will make you feel better.”

“While the gesture is sweet, I think I’m going to have to pass,” I giggle.

“I’m going to make it my mission to get you to at least kiss me, but I’ll try for more,” he winks.

The hostess stops beside a table that’s the furthest out on the beach. “Is this private enough?”

Wrapping his arms around my waist, Kade rests his chin on the top of my head. “Do you not see this beautiful woman in my arms? She has the most dazzling smile I’ve ever seen, and she’s going to be the mother of my child.”

If I could crawl into a hole, I would, but that’s not the case. Instead, I smile, and the hostess’s eyes narrow at me.

“The table is fine. Please make sureyouare not our server,” Kade grits out.

The hostess’s eyes widen, and she takes a step back. “Of course, sir. I meant no harm. Please enjoy your dinner.”

Kade doesn’t even look at her as he holds out a chair for me. “Is this table okay for you, Rainbow?”

“It’s perfect. Thank you,” I sit and avoid looking at the hostess. This got awkward fast.

Sitting across from me, he reaches across the table and takes my hand in his. “I’m sorry she made you feel less than when you’re so incredibly important to me and so many other people.”

If I wasn’t already falling for this man, I would be now. I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m swaying in my seat; I’m swooning so hard right now.

“Are you okay?” He asks from across the table.

“Yeah,” I swallow back the emotion and smile. “I’m just emotional with these crazy hormones.”

He nods as if he’s agreeing, but from the slight twitch of his lips, I don’t think he believes me. I’m grateful he’s giving me my out. It’s too soon to be having these feelings for him, and maybe my feelings are heightened because I’m pregnant. Whatever it is, I’m not going to say anything to chase him away.

Tightening my hold on Kade’s hand, I stare out at the slowly setting sun. The oranges and pinks changing to purple and blues. “I don’t think I ever want to leave. Either that or Lexie needs to step up her game to live at the beach because this is heaven.”
