EPILOGUE
RAINE
Four Years Later
Sittingon the beach in Lexie’s backyard, we watch as Kade, Ryder, and Remy play with the children in the ocean water.
“This is the best way to spend the weekend.” I rub more sunscreen on my legs.
“When are you going to convince that husband of yours to buy a house closer to us?” Stella asks me.
“It’s too far from the hospital,” I tell her for probably the twentieth time. “Maybe once he retires.” My brows raise over my sunglasses.
“That’s far too long,” Lexie pouts.
“It really is.” Stella gasps and leans forward. “Don’t tell me Kade’s one of those people who thinks the beach is sinking into the ocean, and that’s why he doesn’t want to move here.”
Lexie and I look at each other and burst out laughing. I nearly fall off my lounger. Once I finally pull myself together, barely, I let out a cough. “I don’t think so. It really is about his job.”
“Well, I don’t get to see you as much as Lexie does, so I miss you,” Stella fake sniffs.
“So, your solution is to have everyone move near you? Are you trying to get Pen to buy a place here?”
“She’s just as resistant as you,” she grumbles.
“We just need to have more of these get-togethers. Maybe a girls’ weekend,” I suggest.
“Yes,” Stella shouts. “I love my kids, but a weekend with just my girls would be wonderful.”
“Let’s do it,” Lexie claps her hands on her legs. “Stella, we can take you along on one of my travel shoots, or you can come after, and then we’ll have a few days to ourselves.”
“Oh,” her eyes light up. “You mean I could be your assistant for a day like Raine?”
“If you want,” Lexie laughs.
“You know all the husbands will want to come along,” I say, looking out at the water. It’s a fine sight to see. All our men shirtless and wet, playing with children. We’ll probably all end up getting pregnant tonight. I know my ovaries are about to explode.
“They will. Maybe they can join us after a few days, and it will be one big, long vacation,” Lexie nods as she speaks.
“Perfect. It’s a win-win,” Stella jumps up and runs to the water. Remy sees her coming and catches her when she jumps on him.
“She’s really excited. Heck, I’m excited,” I stand and look at Lexie, who’s also getting up.
“I’m not sure how you still don’t swear after being around all of us,” Lexie laughs as we head to our men.
“It’s a good thing. Otherwise, Kaylee would run around like Ava and Birdie saying the f-word for everything.”
“You’ve got me there. When they start school, they’re going to get in so much trouble,” she laughs.
My toes have barely hit the water when Kade picks me up bridal style and swings me around. “I heard we’re going on vacation. Well, first you and then us. Am I hearing correctly?”
Kade dips down and kisses along my collarbone and up my neck.
“Hey, there are children here,” Remy calls over.
My husband doesn’t pay him any attention. Instead, he increases his kisses until his mouth is hovering over mine. “Are you having a good time?”
I tighten my grip around his broad shoulders. “I am, and we are going on vacation. Stella was trying to convince me that we should move here, and I suggested a girls’ weekend.”
