“Do you mind if I come?” Called out a woman with pink hair.

Cash’s eyes met hers. “If you believe it’s okay to love anyone you want, you’re welcome to join us for dinner down the street at Delicias.”

She smiled, nodding as she started to walk backward. “Then I’ll be there. Just let me close up.”

Cash nodded before we walked out the door. Leo and Everly were right behind us, along with a gorgeous blond couple.

Once the six of us were seated, the blond guy who had been by Leo’s side reached over the table to shake our hands. “I’m Bodhi, and this beautiful woman is my wife, Coco. Thanks for letting us tag along.”

“We’re Jordan and Cash,” I told him. It was a little odd to be having dinner with strangers, but at least they seemed nice.

“Yes, thank you. We fully believe everyone has the right to love whoever they want,” Coco said, leaning forward. “It may not look like it now, but there were plenty of people who thought our relationship was wrong when we got together.”

“Yeah, you two look perfect together, so I don’t know why anyone would have a problem with you,” Cash chimed in.

“Oh, believe me, we didn’t look perfect when we got together,” Bodhi laughed lightly. “Coco was so far out of my league, and everyone knew it.”

“Hey,” Coco scowled at her husband. “Don’t say that. You were never out of my league. I always saw your potential.”

“She did when very few gave me a chance.” Bodhi gave a bashful smile, making him look even more handsome. “Looks can be deceiving. When I first came to Oasis, I was homeless and thought I was worthless.”

That got my attention. I’d never known anyone who had been homeless before.

“But he’s the bravest and most special man I know,” Coco beamed at him. “He saved my life more than once, proving he was more than the man who was secretly leaving me flowers every day.”

“Have you already ordered drinks?” The pink-haired woman from the salon asked as she sat down. “Tate’s on his way and asked me to order him a drink.”

“Not yet,” Coco answered.

“By the way, I’m Trixie, and I love gay men.” She smiled at us.

“It’s good to meet you,” Cash and I said at the same time. We both had laughter in our voices. How had this become our night?

“They’re all good people,” Leo vouched for them.

I had a feeling that Camila’s ugly words out on the street may have finally severed all connection with her brother, but we were forming a new family of friends who wouldn’t judge us.

Five Years Later

“I swearyour mom is going to give herself a heart attack if she doesn’t settle down,” I laughed as I watched Maggie pace up and down the hospital hallway.

“Don’t let her hear you say that,” Jordan chuckled nervously. He sat beside me, and I could feel the nervous hum coming off his body.

Clamping my hand on his now bouncing knee, I rubbed my thumb over his skin, just below the hem of his shorts. “Are you ready for this?”

“Is anyone ever truly ready to become a parent?” Jordan brought his thumb up to his mouth and started to bite his thumbnail.

“I’m more than ready. We are both in a great place in our careers, and I know we’re going to be amazing parents since we’re great uncles to all our friend’s kids.”

Jordan threw his head back, letting out a booming laugh. “Spoiling our friend’s kids is not going to be the same as our own. We’ll have to live with them twenty-four seven.”

Our kids were going to be spoiled if Maggie had anything to say about it. She was head over heels that she was about to be a grandmother. I was surprised she hadn’t tried to convince Bob to move from Diamond, Texas, to Oasis.

“We won’t let them be monsters, but we’ve worked hard for this moment.” Leaning into him, I pressed my forehead to his and looked deep into his gray eyes. “Let’s enjoy it and our baby.”
