“Are we sure that’s it?” asked Ghost. “Is he deployed somewhere?”

“He is,” said Ian, “but he’s turned off his tracking for now. He must be in a highly sensitive area to do that.”

“Keep an eye on her,” said Gaspar. “The last thing we need is a depressed young woman who is afraid to talk to anyone.”

“Hey, guys,” started Code.

“So help me God, if you follow that up with ‘we’ve got a problem,’ I’m going to beat the hell out of you.” Code gave a smirk to Gaspar and shook his head.

“Well, you can beat the shit out of me, but you’re going to want to hear this first. The FBI agent who helped Millicent left a voicemail on her contact phone. I called him back and explained the situation, that we were helping her at this point. To say he was relieved was an understatement. I thought he was going to cry.”

“That’s a pretty severe reaction,” frowned Miller.

“He’s getting up there, and this is his final case. He wants to see the brother give his testimony, but he’d rather see him die in prison. According to him, his peers at the FBI are pushing him to give Jay the deal he wants. Testify against all the families, all the organizations he worked with, and they reduce his sentence from life in prison to twenty years.”

“Are they fucking crazy?” asked Nine.

“That’s not all. He says that he wants his sister to testify on his behalf.”

“On his behalf?” frowned Nine. “What the fuck does that mean?”

“According to Fowler, Jay thinks he can get his sister to admit that he took care of her, fed her, clothed her, acted as a surrogate parent when their father was off killing people.”

“Wait. He plans to say the old man did most of the killing? We all know that’s not true. He did it. He’s hoping to get her there and force her into a space where he can get to her,” said Alec. “We can’t let that happen.”

“We won’t let it happen,” said Gaspar. “Go on, Code.”

“Fowler is talking to Kari and the team to see what sort of legal action we can take. She wants to recommend that she do any testifying remotely.”

“That would definitely be better for everyone,” said Ian.

“There’s another problem. The people that Jay is testifying against are the biggest crime organizations and families in the country. If he puts her face, her name in front of them, they’re going to think she had something to do with it all.”

“Shit. This just got seriously bad,” said Tailor. “We can’t let that little girl testify. Those folks would eat her alive.”

“They want their money,” said Nine. “They want Jay dead, but they want their money as well. I hate to say this, but I think we need to make contact with these families and work this from another angle.”

“What about Trevon? Who’s going to tell him?” asked Tailor.

“Well, that would be you, Alec, Noah, Noa, and Max. If you need extra help, call Bodhi and Cade,” smirked Gaspar.

“That ain’t nice at all, Gaspar. You know that boy is as big, if not bigger, than we are, and he’s younger. If he goes off on us, we ain’t gonna be able to hold him down.”

“Oh, you’ll figure it out. He’s just an overgrown child,” said Gaspar. “In fact, you could take Mama and Pops. I’d bet my last dollar he won’t go off if they’re around.”

“But what about Millicent?” asked Trak. “If she knows that her presence is creating issues, she’s liable to leave.”

“Then we make sure she doesn’t,” said Nine. “We can put her and Trevon out at the island mansion. There’s no way for her to leave from out there. Plus, Ham, Patrick, and Christopher are out there. She’ll have her own personal guard.”

“I think we need to keep her here,” said Alec. “She needs to be able to do what she does every day, to know that things are normal. Don’t put her out there on that island. It would freak her out.”

“You might have a point other than the one on the top of your head,” smirked Gaspar.

“You’re funny,” frowned Alec. “I know what I’m talking about. She loves Trevon, but she loves feeling a part of the family. We can’t take that from her.”

“Okay. Let’s walk through what this will look like, then we send some folks to Chicago.”
