“You gon’ tighten my shit up too?”
“Your hair still looks fresh, Sanchez.” I laughed as I brushed my hand across his covered braids since he had a durag on.
“But it’s a week old. I need my shit done over.”
“Then I need to do it today because tomorrow will be impossible. I have to do mine and the girls, my mom’s, your grandma’s, probably redo Nai and Kali’s…”
“Relax, love.” He caressed my back and kissed my shoulder. “You can hook me up tonight.”
“Today.” I corrected. “After this party preferably because I just told you we have plans.”
“Yo’ plans come before ya man?”
“No.” I caressed his face, tugging on the beard I’d convinced him to let grow out a little longer. “But we’re going to be awaytogetherfor a week in St. Maarten so you’ll have me all to yourself then.”
“Nope, no cuddling.” Jordyn approached pulling both Sanchez and I up. “I just got on the other’s asses too. I’m glad all three of you are married now so we don’t have to worry about the guys crashing our bachelorette week again.” She playfully rolled her eyes.
“We still have Autumn and A5.” I smiled, allowing her to pull me toward the pool.
“Girl, please.” She scoffed. “The way his ass is, we’ll be on opposite sides of the world when that day comes.”
She was right. A5 didn’t believe in smothering Autumn the way that our men did us. We didn’t have an issue with it, just likeAutumn enjoyed the fact that her man respected her need for personal time and space. It worked for them. If I even mumbled the wordspaceto Sanchez he would go ballistic – he was super clingy.
Because Sanchez and Hulk were there and big celebrities, the deejay played some of their music, which turned the crowd up. Everyone was on their feet or in the pool singing and dancing along to all of the music. He even had us all do a countdown with him before they fired up the foam machines. People were yelling and waving around balloons and pool noodles once the music dropped again.
There were two bars on each side of the pool as well as a swim up bar, so I told Sanchez to go with me to get something to drink. I wanted to do the swim up bar, but he refused to get in the pool with all the people that were in there and the foam. He claimed that not only was it unsanitary, the foam was for women. I didn’t know where he’d gotten that logic from, but I didn’t argue with him. We just journeyed to the bar that was closest to us together.
After getting my drink, we walked back to the pool area where I laid back on one of the longue chairs while I watched everyone dancing in and out of the pool, and Sanchez stood a few feet away smoking a blunt. I was sure I saw a sign that said smoking was prohibited, but he never listened. I’d lost count of how many blunts they’d all smoked out here.
I’d let everyone know that we had shots for them to take, so they emerged from the pool to make a toast before getting back to the festivities. Sam was cursing Hulk out for jumping in the pool and getting all of their hair wet. We’d all agreed that we would, at the very least get in the water, but we weren’t getting our hair wet to make it easier on me and Sam, who was going to help me.
I was in the middle of recording a video when Chez leaned down and started to kiss me nastily. I had to force him backbecause his hands had begun to roam and he was getting carried away.
“Sanchez.” I blushed.
“Post that.” He pointed to my phone. “And come on. You gotta do my hair.”
The grin on his face let know that he had more plans than to get his hair done, and as usual, I couldn’t deny him. Sanchez was insatiable. He’d been that way since day one, but the closer we got to the wedding day, the higher his sex drive got. He’d been asking for another baby a lot more often now too, so I knew that had a lot to do with it as well.
We’d already been at the pool for a few hours so I had no argument for leaving. I wanted to shower anyway because the sun was literally melting me. Our family and friends decided that they were going to stay out for a little longer, claiming that Sanchez and I weren’t going to do anything but be locked away in the room anyway, so we left them behind and headed back.
The very first thing I did was take his hair out so that he could at least wash it himself in the shower. While I waited for him to finish up, I called my mom to see how their beach day was going.
Big Ma was on the beach under her little tent with a fruity drink in her hand. She didn’t drink and my mom knew she couldn’t, so I was sure it was nonalcoholic. Kentrell’s mom and sister were there too, helping all of the little ones build sandcastles, while Kali was burying my baby in sand.
“I’m going to have to get up at four in the morning to get started on everyone’s hair.” I whined. “I know I have to wash both of theirs.”
“I don’t know why you didn’t think you weren’t.” My mom laughed. “Kalianna is wild.”
“Are you bringing Nai to me after? I can knock hers out after I finish her dad’s.”
“I can,” she said. “I can’t believe you’re doing everyone’s hair foryourwedding, Yaya. My God.”
“Who else were y’all going to let do it?” I angled my head to the side. “Andyou knowI’m not letting anyone touch mine.”
“I know.” She shook her head. “I just want you to be able to relax a little before Saturday, you know.”
“I do, mama.” I smiled. “And I will. All of our wigs are already on, so I just need to tighten up the bond since we’ve been in this sweltering heat all week, and I’ll pin whatever curls. You, the girls and Big Ma will be easy.”
