When we got back to her spot, we gave baby girl a bath and she crashed right after. It was still pretty early so I knew her mother wasn’t going to let her sleep too long, but at least for now we had a little free time to talk.
We left the sliding door that led to the balcony open so that we could hear her through the screen if she woke up, then got down on the lil’ hammock joint to chill and talk while I smoked.
“Okay, tell me.” Kenya’s bossy ass requested.
“Yvette was there.” I confessed, taking a pull from the blunt.
Her pretty ass smile faded. “Your mother?”
“Yvette.” I reiterated. “My donor, yes.”
“At the restaurant?”
I nodded. “When I went to find Big Ma she was in there with her going back and forth.”
“What the fuck?” Kenya snapped. “How did she know where the hell we were?”
“Coya’s ass.” I shook my head. “I’m droppin’ her ass from the label when I get back. Bitch don’ tap danced on my last nerve. She said she looked me up and found The Barracks and she told her where we were.”
“I am seriously going to whoop her ass.” My baby snapped. “I’m so sick of her!”
“No cap.”
“How did Big Ma know she was there?”
I shrugged, kind of pissed I didn’t ask that shit. She got her ass away from the table smooth as hell. I had been noticing her on her lil’ phone a lot more lately, but I shrugged the shit off. I was gon’ ask though.
“This is insane. What did she say?”
“She been following me for some time now and wanted to talk.”
Kenya rose up quickly and looked at me. “After all of this damn time?”
“Yeah, and relax moving all quickly love, before you flip us off this shit.”
“Are you scared?” she grinned.
“Hell naw, but you got ya fuckin’ hair all pinned up and shit. You gon’ be cryin’ and complainin’.”
“You’re right.” She eased back into my arms. “What did you say to your mother?”
“Yvette.” I corrected her ass again. “I told her ass to step ‘fore shit get bad for her.”
She chuckled. “I know you said it just like that too.”
“Damn right I did.” I lauhged. “Bitch got me fucked up.”
“Are you angry with her?”
“For bein’ a deadbeat? Naw.” I shook my head. “For showin’ her ass up here? Hell yeah. I been knew she was selfish, hell, she dropped her newborn off with her baby daddy mama, but showing up thinking we gon’ rekindle a relationship we never hadnowis insane, and it’s a slap to Big Ma’s face. She had to endure hell when I was a lil’ nigga, but she never stopped showin’ up for me. She loved me in spite of me, and this bitch didn’t. She was off doin’ whatever the fuck she was doin’ then tried poppin’ up when shit was sweet. Shit really got me tight low key.”
“Don’t let it, baby.” Her soft little hand eased on my cheek and she turned my head so that I was facing her as she looked into my eyes. “She doesn’t get to take this moment from you. From us,” she stated. “You’re here, successful, beating all of the odds that have always been stacked against you, about to marry the best woman in the world…”
“The prettiest.” I added. “The smartest.” I kissed her lips. “The coldest.” Another kiss. “With the best pussy I ever had.”
She smiled against my lips. “I knew you were going to say that.”
“Shit’s true.”
