“I love you.” I admitted before kissing his lips. “I’m so lucky to spend the rest of our lives together.”
“I’m the lucky one, love. Waking up to this pretty ass face is my daily motivation.” He pecked me. “I love yo’ ass so much more, G. No cap.”
We kissed a little more for a while longer before going inside. I went to my suite to change, and of course Sanchez tried coming with me, but I turned him away. I needed to change quickly because we had to go down to join our guests.
My sisters were in the suite waiting for me when I walked in since they were both going to help me change and freshen up.
“Here, Tres said to hurry and fix your face because she will not be doing makeup.” China laughed and handed me a beauty blender.
“Let her get out of her dress first, Tootie.” Italy said as she unzipped me.
“Yaya, the wedding was so beautiful.” China gushed. “And your vows… that is not what you wrote down, heffa, but they were beautiful.”
“Both of yours were,” Italy added. “I’m so glad I’m your sister and was able to witness it up close.”
I smiled at them both, taking the blender from China so that I could fix my makeup.
“Thank y’all. I don’t know, I just got inspired to kind of go off of what he said after hearing his,” I admitted. “I was trying so hard no to cry so I didn’t have to do this.” I laughed as I dabbed at my face.
“I don’t think there was a damn dry eye in the room.” Italy laughed. “Y’all were so sweet.”
“I’m going to make Anario redo ours.” China joked. “He didn’t get sweet enough after hearing that.”
“I’m saying!” Italy agreed, slapping hands with China.
“Both of your men said very sweet things.” I giggled. “Especially Kentrell, Munchie.” I locked eyes with her in the mirror. “The man was a crying mess at y’all’s wedding.”
“I know.” She blushed. “But we all know why,” she said insinuating it had something to do with their rocky past and the fact that they almost didn’t make it to that point, but I shook my head.
“It was because you were a very beautiful bride and he was making things official with the woman that he loved for a very long time. Nothing more, nothing less.”
I was done fixing my face, so she pulled me into a tight hug.
“Uh, uh, let’s get dressed.” China grabbed my reception dress. “Youjustfixed your face. We don’t have time to wait for you to do it again or to do ours. I don’t want to cry anyway, so stop.” She smiled.
I chuckled and accepted my dress from her, taking heed to her warning because she was in fact a damn crybaby and would for sure start crying.
I dressed quickly and touched up my hair before the three of us left the suite and headed downstairs to meet everyone else. My bridesmaids and the groomsmen were all waiting outside of the banquet hall for us to go in. Midnite and Roland were there too so I approached them, giving them both a hug.
“Congratulations, Yaya.” Midnite kissed the top of my head. “Can’t believe I witnessed you getting married, but I’m glad I did.”
“Thank you, and thanks for understanding… you know.”
I felt horrible telling him that he wouldn’t get to be a part of our wedding outside of catering and just being a guest, but he understood. He knew the dynamics of his relationship with Sanchez, or lack thereof, so he didn’t trip. He was just glad to be there.
“Ain’t no thang.” He smirked. “I love you regardless, and you gon’ forever be my bestie.”
I hugged him again before leaving them to go find my husband. He was off to the side talking to Hulk when I approached so I hugged his friend first, then melted into his embrace.
“Quit huggin’ on all these niggas.” He playfully frowned. “Know I get active ‘bout you.”
I smiled. “It’s your friend.”
“So.” He maintained his frown. “Nigga over there ain’t my fuckin’ friend, so cool it, aight.”
“Shut up.” I laughed and so did he.
“Naw, I’m fuckin’ with you. Nigga straight, I guess.”
