“Better check ya calendar and handle that.” I playfully warned. “That shit over with and tell ya lil’ homeboy that the friendship over too.”
“Sanchez…” she giggled.
“I’m dead ass, love.” I lied. I would never come between her and her bread, and I wouldn’t make her end her friendship with her punk ass homeboy. She loved him and he respected what we had goin’ on so I tolerated him.A little.
“Okay are you going to fire all of the women that work for you?”
“You like Jionne.” I grinned. “And you love Ace and Grey.”
“So.” She laughed. “This is a two-way street, sir. If I can’t do men’s hair, you can’t have any female artists.”
“It’s business, love. Plus you the woman. You gotta do what I say to do.”
“Negro, please.” She scoffed.
“I’m fuckin’ with you.” I chuckled. “I wouldn’t fuck with ya bread like that anyway or ya little friendship.”
“I know.” She smiled, tugging on my beard. “I do want you to let Coya’s raggedy ass go after I whoop her ass though.”
“First order of business when I get back.” I admitted.
She really crossed the line telling a complete stranger my whereabouts. For all her stupid ass knew, Yvette could have been a crazed fan and pushed up on bullshit. My entire family was there. And if something would have gone left, and my girl, kid or grandma would have been hurt I would have murdered her entire lineage.
I was just done dealing with all of the confusion that came with her ass. I was at a place in my life where all I wanted was peace, and her ass didn’t give me that, so I was getting rid of her.
“You can’t beat the bitch up though.” I said. “We might get sued or some shit.”
“Please.” She waved me off. “After I whoop her ass and warn her, her ass will shit herself if she even sees a security guard, let alone a police officer. Trust me.”
“Aight, Agent Five.” I laughed and kissed her neck again. “That crazy, killer shit be turning me on.”
“No, Sanchez, our toast.” She nudged me off and lifted her glass.
“G.” I huffed but lifted my cup too. “What we toasting to for real?”
“To a life sentence,” she said and I frowned.
“Kenya, word that differently.”
“What?” She grinned. “That’s what we’re doing. Life together.”
“Aight, but that’s a prison sentence and that ain’t what this is.” I said. “What we have is a lot more and better than that.”
“Okay then, to us.” She lifted the glass again. “To a love I didn’t see coming and a man who made it impossible to ignore. My husband. My peace. My once in a lifetime.” Our glasses clinked. “I love you, Sanchez.”
“I love you too, beautiful.”
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Kenya.
“I can’t believe this is real,” I said as I wrapped my arms around Sanchez from behind.
He was standing on the patio with the door cracked slightly, shirtless and smoking. I’d just put Nai down for a little nap after we bathed, so we had a little free time. Our suite looked out over the beautiful ocean. The scenery was so breathtaking. We had the option to either stand out here on the balcony to see it or we could draw the curtains in the bedroom.
He glanced back at me and grinned before pulling me around to face him. “What? Us? Our view? Or how good yo’ ass look in my shirt?”
I’d just grabbed something to throw on while I laid with my baby after my shower.
