“All of that.” I laughed. “But mostly us. It all still feels like a dream.”
“If it is, don’t wake me up.” He replied then kissed me. “I’ve waited my whole life for something—someone—this real.”
“You’re so sweet to me.” I smiled, tossing my arms around his neck loosely. “To me and Nai.”
“Y’all my fuckin’ heart.” He murmured, leaning down to bury his face in my neck. “Gotta do all I can to make and keep y’all happy. Especially Nai. Can’t have her meeting no busta ass nigga at the retirement home and settling for less.”
“The retirement home?” I repeated and laughed. “You are ridiculous.”
“I’m serious as fuck.” He laughed with me. “She can’t date as long as I’m alive.”
“She can too.” I smiled up at him. “Hopefully she meets someone as perfect as you.”
“I ain’t nowhere near perfect.” He chuckled while shaking his head. “But I’m gon’ work overtime to get as close to the shit as possible for y’all.”
“As long as you’re always the man you are to us now, we’ll be okay.”
“You think yo’ pussy gon’ always be this fire?” he asked. “Like even when we ninety and shit?”
“What is wrong with you?” I cackled. “We won’t even be having sex then.”
“Shiddd, how you figure?”
“We’ll be too old.”
“Crazy as fuck.” He chuckled. “I’m still gon’ be tearin’ that ass up. Old and wrinkled and all.”
“You’re annoying.” I laughed. “But if I have the stamina, I’ll bend over my walker.”
“G.” He laughed.
He finished up his blunt then we went inside where I ordered us something to eat because he always wanted to eat after he smoked. We ended up laying down to take a nap before going out. We’d already been in St. Maarten for a few days and it had been an experience. From the food to the excursions, to the culture, it was beautiful and I was glad that we’d brought our baby with us to experience it.
My favorite place so far was the Carnival Museum. We were able to learn a lot about the history of Carnival not only in St. Maarten, but in other regions as well. The bar inside was an added bonus.
We’d also eaten some good food. Jai’s Contemporary Fusion Cuisine was on my new list of favorites and Ital Shack had some of the best, freshest and cleanest food that I’d ever had. We did the Champagne Sunset Ride with Nai too. We were able to ride the horses, get champagne and roast marshmallows with her while enjoying the sunset. Sanchez and I had agreed to bring Nai with us from the beginning, but I did wonder if we would be able to fully enjoy the island if we had her, but that was no longer a thought. I’d enjoyed everything that we’d done together as a family so far.
Sanchez had taken us shopping while we were out earlier and picked some white linen dresses for Nai and me to match his white Gucci set, so he asked us to get dressed then meet him in the living room when we were done.
The sun had just begun to dip into the ocean when Sanchez was leading me and Nairobi to the beach where there was a private table for three waiting. There were candles lit creating a pathway to the table as well as soft music playing from the quartet a short distance away.
“Babe.” I simpered as we followed the path. “When did you put this together?”
“Earlier.” He answered as he pulled my chair out.
I slowly descended into my chair with my baby secured in my arms allowing my eyes to carefully roam over the table. There was crystal glassware and gleaming silverware catching the last of the sunlight as the waiter approached with a bottle of chilled wine.
“This is… stunning,” I finally said, turning my attention to him putting our daughter in the highchair that he’d obviously requested for her.
After we were both seated, he pulled the chair across from me out and took his seat.
“Nowhere near as stunning as you, love.” He smirked. “That dress looks good on you.” He complimented. “I can’t wait to take it off of you.”
“Baby.” I blushed, then asked, “when did you have all of this set up?”
“Earlier,” he answered. “When you went to change Nai.”
The servers came over with our food seconds later. We started with fresh mango and arugula salad followed by lobster tail drizzled in garlic butter and roasted plantains in sweet heat. It all looked and smelled so good.
