“They slept there, but now they’re in the kitchen.” Ayesha said, then added. “But Stacia about to dip too—Shemar mad she spent the night when he told her he was flying in last night.”
Zoe’s eyes widened as her gaze shifted from me then back to her cousin. I narrowed my eyes at the quick reaction, noting how nervous she’d suddenly gotten. “What? I thought his flight got delayed from the storm.”
“It did,” Ayesha said, leaning against the doorframe. “But the weather cleared up quicker than she thought. He texted her three times before she finally answered.”
Zoe bit her lip, concern flashing across her face. I felt her body tense slightly against mine.
Meanwhile, Ayesha’s eyes landed back on me. “Bye,Kentrell,” she sang, sweet and petty at the same time.
I smirked. “Bye, sista-cousin.”
She broke into a giggle, shaking her head. “I see you not gon’ let that go.”
“Nope.” I said flatly.
Zoe groaned and laughed all at once, burying her face in my chest.
“You better treat her right,” Ayesha added, her tone dipping just enough to let me know she meant that.
“I will,” I said without blinking.
She nodded once, satisfied, then closed the door behind her.
Zoe let out a long breath. “I need to get in the shower.”
“Why you keep tryna get away from me.”
“That’s not what I’m doing!” She lifted her head up, amusement dancing in her eyes, “It’s already 7:43, if we keep on like this, it’ll be 3 before we know it.”
“Nah, if we keep on, yo ass gon’ be spread out across these sheets and we won’t have to go nowhere.” I state matter of factly as she bit down on her bottom lip.
I felt her thighs clenching on top of me and knew my words had gotten to her.
“Oh, so you’d be okay doing it here?”
“If it’s fuckin’,” I shrugged, “I’ll do it to you anywhere—in the back of my truck, the basement… shit, on the couch.”
More places came to mind just from looking at her.
“If you up to it, I’ll fold you across the table?—”
“Kentrell!” she gasped, cheeks flushed, but her eyes darkened in contrast.
She was ready. She didn’t have to say it.
And I couldn’t wait to get her away from here.
Still, as I watched those emotions flicker across her face, my mind went back to what Ayesha said about Shemar. The way Zoe’s expression shifted—like panic crept in, but she tried to smother it fast. Ayesha’s delivery was too calculated, like she was covering for her girl while dropping breadcrumbs.
They were hiding something.
And they wanted it to stay between them.
Normally I wouldn’t dip into female shit, but Zoe wasn’t just some woman. She wasmine. And whatever she knew, I was gonna know too.
She could try to act unbothered all she wanted—her body told on her every time.
“Stacia fucking around on Shemar?” I asked, eyes locked on her.
