“Koi, girl—damn it!” he yelled, and I smirked.

Oshon was in over his head with his daughter, Koi.

Three years old, full of energy, and on his heels since day one.

She changed him. Softened the hard parts.

He used to be closed off. Quiet. But after her mom died in that car crash last year, he stepped up.

Now, everything he did was for her smile.

“Daddy, I gotchu!” I heard Koi laughing in the background.

“Yeah, I know—you got watereverywhere,” he groaned. Then more shuffling. “Aye, nigga, what’s up?”

“Shit, nothin’. At my shorty crib. But you think you can find something out for me?”

“Always. What you need?”

“Buford nigga—tied to some judges and politicians.” I spoke in code. “See if he got any reach out this way.”

“Right up my alley.” Oshon said, just before another splash exploded through the speaker. “Koi, do another fuckin’ flip in that tub and you getting yo ass the fuck out!”

I cracked a smile.

“Aye, send me that shit,” he added. “I gotta get her bad lil ass out before she flood my whole damn bathroom.”

“A’ight.” I ended the call and tossed my phone aside, just as Zoe walked into the room.

Still wet. Still glowing.

Steam trailed her from the bathroom, curling behind her like a halo as she climbed back into bed with me.

“I was waiting on you to join me,” she sighed, sliding into my side.

“Damn, I know… that call took too long.” I grunted, pulling her into my arms, burying my face in the crook of her neck. “You smell good though.”

“Thank you,” she giggled, wrapping her arms around my back.

And that’s when I realized—she was still naked. Skin warm, damp, smooth.

“We still going?” I asked, already feeling my body respond as she climbed into my lap.

She didn’t answer—just kissed the side of my face, then my neck.

I let her.

Let her trail those kisses up my jaw, across my cheek, and back to my mouth.

Then she bit my bottom lip and sucked it into hers.

“Zoe…” I warned, my voice already trembling under the weight of her touch.

She said nothing. Just kept kissing.

Kept reaching.

Until her fingers wrapped around me and gave me a squeeze.
